Travis Hunter is once again a heavy favorite in the Heisman Trophy odds at -800. It is hard to imagine anyone catching Hunter, but there is a slim scenario that could play out as I will detail in my college football picks below for the Heisman.

Ashton Jeanty is a distant second in the odds at +550. A pair of quarterbacks round out the odds with Miami’s Cam Ward at +1400 followed by Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel at +6000.

There’s little point in betting on Hunter at this point in the process, but let’s take a look at how Colorado’s two-way star could lose the Heisman Trophy.

3 Things to Know When Betting on Heisman Trophy Odds

1. How Can Travis Hunter Lose the Heisman?

When you are a -800 favorite to do anything, the NCAA football odds are quite literally in your favor. Fans can bet Hunter not to win the Heisman at +425 in NCAAF futures odds. So what kind of crazy scenario would need to happen for this to be in play?

We’re going to give it to you straight and say this is extremely unlikely to happen. Yet, here is a potential path for Hunter to lose the Heisman Trophy.

It starts with Colorado laying another egg and losing to Oklahoma State. Even if Colorado defeats the Pokes, the Buffs still need help in order to make the Big 12 title game.

If Hunter is watching the conference championship games at home, it does open the possibility for another player to have a Heisman moment. We know that Jeanty and Boise State have already punched their ticket to the Mountain West championship.

Cam Ward has Miami in the driver’s seat to make the ACC title game as well. It wouldn’t hurt if Hunter had a subpar performance against Oklahoma State to crack the door even more for either of these players.

2. Jeanty Only Other Heisman Betting Hopeful

If anyone is going to catch Hunter, it is likely going to be Jeanty. The Boise State star running back has already topped 2,000 rushing yards and still has two games remaining.

Heading into the regular-season finale versus Oregon State, Jeanty has posted 275 carries for 2,062 yards and 27 touchdowns. The offer There is good value for an online bet on Jeanty at +550 to win the Heisman .

3. Can Cam Ward Catch Travis Hunter?

Ward is a distant third in the NCAAF lines to win the Heisman at +1400. Can Ward catch Hunter?

It is about as likely as me passing on eating more than one plate of stuffing, but I guess there’s a slight chance. Ward has the best numbers of any college football quarterback.

Per college football betting trends, the Heisman Trophy has traditionally been awarded to a top quarterback. Seven of the last eight Heisman winners, including the past three, were QBs. Ward has a chance to put up a stellar performance versus Syracuse then make a statement in the ACC championship. While not impossible, it is not something I would take with NCAAF predictions.
