This is indeed a new-look conference with the additions of Oklahoma and Texas. Additionally, it is going to be a bit weird not seeing Nick Saban on the Bama sideline. Talking season continues with SEC media days taking place this week.

Soon the press conferences will be over and it will be time for actual games. What are some of the best value picks for the SEC Conference? Here’s a look at four games I have circled on my calendar.

Top Four Biggest SEC Matchups to Bet on in 2024

1. Hello Old Friends: Georgia at Alabama (September 28)

We’re used to this game taking place in December for the SEC Championship. No divisions means each team’s schedule looks a lot different.

Kalen DeBoer has an early opportunity to prove that Alabama can still be an SEC contender, even without Saban. For the Dawgs, this is a chance to make a statement on the road to the rest of the conference.

BetUS sportsbook already has an early line for this matchup. Georgia is a 4½-point favorite versus Bama.

2. Welcome to the SEC, Tex: Georgia at Texas (October 19)

This will be the biggest SEC game to date on the Longhorns’ inaugural schedule. By the time this kicks off, Texas will already have faced Michigan and Oklahoma.

Texas is viewed not just as an SEC contender, but a team with a good chance to make the College Football Playoff. The addition of Texas and Oklahoma means more competition for Kirby Smart’s men of Athens.

Georgia faces potential roadblocks this season with additional games against Clemson, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. We’re looking forward to the quarterback matchup between Quinn Ewers and Carson Beck.

3. Rivalry Renewed: Texas at Texas A&M (November 30)

It took the Longhorns joining the SEC for this rivalry to be renewed. When Texas A&M left the Big 12, scheduling this rivalry fell apart like a Drake diss track.

You can hop on the Google machine to see who is to blame for the absence of this rivalry matchup. What matters most is that this game is happening on November 30. Texas is widely viewed as a championship contender, but Texas A&M also is poised to make some noise.

At the very least, the Aggies could play spoiler to the Longhorns’ championship plans. At most, Texas A&M is still in the hunt themselves after Thanksgiving.

4. SEC Sleepers Square Off: Ole Miss at LSU (October 12)

If we’re being honest, I could just list Georgia’s four biggest games on their schedule for this exercise. That isn’t much fun, and there are other SEC teams that will be in the mix as well.

Both Ole Miss (+650) and LSU (+950) are expected to be threats to win the SEC in college football betting odds. Both teams are being mentioned as sleepers to win the conference title.

This October 12 matchup takes place at the beginning of the SEC schedule. Ole Miss raided the transfer portal to be viewed as a legitimate CFB Playoff contender.

The Tigers are another team looming as a threat to win the SEC. It’s too early to call this an elimination game, but the winner could solidify their status as a potential SEC champ.
