There are several intriguing Top 25 matchups for Week 5 of NCAA football, but that’s not where the most significant line movements have been. Most of the college football spreads’ line shifts are taking place between the mid-tier teams. We take a look at five of them.
Pittsburgh Panthers at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Opener: Georgia Tech +4. Current Line: Georgia Tech +3
The consensus here has been fairly even with a slight lean toward the home team, hence why a sizable shift in the NCAA football odds. Georgia Tech (2-2) has been golden as underdogs lately, covering the spread in high-profile matchups against North Carolina and Clemson.
The Panthers (3-1) have also been solid and are 3-1 against the spread (ATS), just like the Yellow Jackets. They have covered their last three spreads against Georgia Tech and are 4-2 ATS in their last six games against them.
Tulane Green Wave at East Carolina Pirates
Opener: Under 65½. Current Line: Under 64½
The Green Wave (1-3) have been seeing plenty of line-shifting action with their betting odds lately. It’s the total this time as the under has shrunk by a point. It wouldn’t be Tulane’s recent performances. Four of their last five games have gone over.
However, six of their last seven games against East Carolina (2-2) have gone under. The last five games at the Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium have gone under. Both Tulane and East Carolina have suspect defenses, but 65½ points was a significant toal.
UCF Knights at Navy Midshipmen
Opener: Central Florida -15½. Current Line: Central Florida -16½
It isn’t just the Central Florida (UCF) (2-1) team that is squarely behind its freshman quarterback, Mikey Keene, but also the online bettors who have steamed the line. Keene fills in for injured starter Dillon Gabriel and will face winless Navy (0-3).

UCF has only covered one of its last five games but Navy is in a similar spot and only managed to cover in its last game. Prior to that, the Midshipmen lost four straight spreads and failed to reach double digits on the scoreboard five straight times. This team is bad so, whether Keene is good or not, the public is fading them hard.
Texas Tech Red Raiders at West Virginia Mountaineers
Opener: West Virginia -7. Current Line: West Virginia -7
The Mountaineers (2-2) were seeing a significant portion of the online sports betting support as their opening line of seven points moved to eight but now dipped back to seven. West Virginia has covered in six of its last nine games and is 4-1 ATS in its last five against Big 12 opponents.
The Red Raiders (3-1), however, are 6-3 ATS in their last nine games against West Virginia. They will test their prolific offense against a Mountaineer defense that is giving up just 16.8 points per game, the third-fewest in the conference. Watch to see if the line moves again.
(10) Florida Gators at Kentucky Wildcats
Opener: Under 56. Current Line: Under 55½
Sharp money is on the under here as Florida (3-1) visits Kentucky(4-0) in what should be an even lower-scoring affair. Both teams are sporting top-50 defenses, but Florida’s run-heavy style should produce plenty of long drives with limited points.
However, plenty of bets online have gone the other way likely thanks to the Wildcats’ total record lately. Kentucky’s last five home games have gone over and six of its last nine have as well. Kentucky’s defense has also not been tested against a powerful team like the Gators so there could be plenty of push-and-pull here.
