That’s a polite way of saying Michigan, as well as Ohio State, now has a lot more competition to win the conference. It is entirely possible we are sleeping on the Wolverines following Jim Harbaugh’s departure.
The good news is that soon we will be moving from the talkin’ season of media days to the playing season as games kick off in a matter of weeks.
Here’s three Big Ten quarterbacks that have our attention.
These 3 Quarterbacks Will Help Define the Big Ten Race
1. Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel is Heisman Trophy Favorite
Gabriel is not only viewed as the top quarterback in the Big Ten, but the NCAA odds have the star as the Heisman Trophy favorite. It is worth noting that things will not be easy for either Gabriel or Oregon.
Oregon head coach Dan Lanning loves Dillon Gabriel’s fit with the Ducks in the post-Bo Nix era.

Gabriel is making his Oregon debut in a new offense for a program that is changing conferences. It will be worth watching to see if the squad can avoid some growing pains.
The quarterback will be playing for his third team, with previous stops at UCF and Oklahoma. Oregon head coach Dan Lanning emphasized that both sides will need to work together and adapt.
“I think he’s brought some ideas to us too as well that he does really well and that’s our job as coaches now,” Lanning said, per On3.com. “To figure out his strengths as we lean into that.
“The way he works, looking for him to step up as a vocal leader as the season continues, but what he does on the field is really impressive.”
2. Will Howard Brings Consistency to Ohio State
As our rankings show, it is a new era of college football with the top two quarterbacks coming from the transfer portal. There were flashier signal-callers available, but Will Howard has been one of the best quarterbacks in college football during his time at Kansas State.

Howard threw for 2,643 yards, 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing 61.3% of his passes last season. The quarterback added 351 rushing yards and nine TDs on the ground.
It should help the transition that Howard will have the best weapons of his career at Ohio State. All this has the Buckeyes as the Big Ten favorite at the BetUS sportsbook at +140.
3. Caleb Who? Miller Moss Looks to Propel USC
This is a bit of a projection based on what is to come, but there are plenty of reasons to think Miller Moss will be one of the top QBs in the conference. Moss set the Holiday Bowl record with six touchdown passes in USC’s 42-28 win over Louisville.
Reminder that Miller Moss is the ONLY returning QB to throw 6+ TDs and have a 90+ PFF grade in a single game last season 👀#FightOn✌🏻 pic.twitter.com/ZLaNnlxjkv

The quarterback also threw for 372 yards while completing more than 69% of his passes. Moss will need to prove that he is more than a one-hit wonder, but Lincoln Riley has a strong track record of getting the best out of quarterbacks.
USC could be worth a flier when you bet online with long online betting odds to win the Big Ten at +2200.
