Marcus Freeman is tied with Charlie Weis for the most wins through his first two seasons as the coach at Notre Dame. Fighting Irish fans can only hope that the rest of his tenure goes better than was the case with Weis, who followed up 9-3 and 10-3 seasons by going 16-21 over his final three.
Freeman has a chance to become the first Notre Dame coach to lead his team to 10 wins in two of his first three seasons. That would certainly not be the case if teams when Knute Rockne, Frank Leahy and Ara Paraseghian coached the Fighting Irish played as many games as this Notre Dame program does these days. The college football odds have Notre Dame priced at -120 to win 10 games during the regular season with the Moneyline set at -110 to go under 10 wins.
The college football futures odds has Notre Dame at -180 or -200 – depending on where you look – to make the 12-team College Football Playoff field with +2400 odds to win the national title.

Why to Bet Notre Dame to Go Over 10 Wins
As mentioned above, Notre Dame figures to be favored by the sportsbook odds in nearly every game this season. In Freeman’s first two seasons, the Fighting Irish was 16-4 outright when listed as the favorite.
The college football betting line has Notre Dame as a slight underdog for the season opener against Texas A&M. However, the Fighting Irish could be favored in the rest of the games during the regular season.
Notre Dame is catching Texas A&M in the first game with a new coach so that could be a chance for the Fighting Irish to open the season with a win. Notre Dame is 6-1 in its last seven season openers but the last time that Notre Dame opened a season with a game in Texas, things didn’t go so well in a 2016 loss to Texas.
Even if the Fighting Irish fall to the Aggies, they could run the table to finish over 10 wins during the regular season. Obviously, this would be a more tempting option at 9½ rather than 10.
However, there are plenty of games on the schedule that look like wins at this point. After the matchup with Texas A&M comes a three-game stretch versus Northern Illinois, Purdue and Miami (the one in Ohio).
Stanford, Georgia Tech, Navy, Virginia and Army also are games that Notre Dame will be expected to win. The Army game will be played at Yankee Stadium.

If the Fighting Irish take care of business, that would put Notre Dame at eight wins so the quest to go over 10 wins would come down to matchups with Louisville, Florida State and Southern California. The first two of those games will be in South Bend.

Why to Bet Notre Dame to Go Under 10 Wins
A loss to Texas A&M in the opener could make those who bet online a tad bit nervous.
Louisville had no issues beating Notre Dame a season ago while Florida State is listed by the NCAA football odds as the favorite to win the ACC. The USC game is the regular-season finale so that gives Lincoln Riley 11 games to figure things out now that former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Caleb Williams is playing with the NFL’s Chicago Bears.
Notre Dame has split its last six road games against USC. Right now, the Fighting Irish are favored by 3½ points but that could certainly change. USC could be the more prepared team heading into that matchup with games against LSU, Michigan, and Penn State. It could be argued that those three teams will be better than any team Notre Dame will face in the regular season.

It won’t be a surprise to see Notre Dame finish with 10 wins for the seventh time in the last eight seasons. However, getting to 11 wins might be a bit of a struggle.
It shouldn’t take long to figure that out because a loss to Texas A&M in the season opener will impact the regular-season win projections for Notre Dame.
Notre Dame saw two offensive linemen taken in the first two rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft, so it is fair to question how good the offensive line will be as former Duke quarterback Riley Leonard takes over as the Notre Dame QB.

The top rusher and receiver are gone for the Fighting Irish so there is some work to do on the offensive side of the ball.
