Virginia Tech snapped a three-game losing streak Saturday following a 26-17 upset of Georgia Tech on the road. The Hokies come through as the 3-point closing underdogs on college football odds while the final score came under the closing 55-point total.

The Hokies are 4-4 with a 2-2 record in conference play. They’re 2-4 straight up (SU) and 1-5 against the spread (ATS) in their last six games. The total has gone under in eight of Virginia Tech’s last 10 games.

Wide receiver Tre Turner was named as one of ACC players of the week after Virginia Tech upset Georgia Tech. The star receiver ratched up 187 yards on seven catches, and scored a touchdown to help lift his side to victory.

Injury Report

There are no new injuries listed this week for Virginia Tech. Quarterback Connor Blumrick remains sidelined with a leg injury and his return date is uncertain. Defensive back Devon Hunter (knee) and linebacker Dean Fergusson (shoulder) are out for the season.

Last Game

Boston College is in the midst of a terrible slump and showing no sign of being able to turn things around. From the ineptitude of the offense to the inefficiency of the run defense and the sloppiness of special teams, the reasons for the Eagles’ struggles are contained within all facets of the game..

Saturday’s 21-6 defeat by Syracuse comes after losses to Clemson, NC State and Louisville, and plunges the Eagles down to 13th place in the ACC. It’s the first major losing streak of coach Jeff Hafley’s tenure and the worst streak for Boston College since 2015.

Hafley played with both quarterbacks in Saturday’s loss. Dennis Grosel and Emmett Moorehead took turns on the field, but each produced a field goal as the offensive pivots.

The Eagles are 4-4 overall, but they’re 0-4 against conference rivals. They’re 1-4 SU and 2-3 ATS in their last five games. The total has gone under in six of their last eight games.

Injury Report

Isaiah Graham-Mobley (upper body), offensive lineman Tyler Vrabel (upper body), quarterback Emmet Morehead (upper body), tight end Trae Barry (undisclosed), defensive back Brandon Sebastian (knee) and wide receiver Kobaly White (knee) are questionable.

Betting on the Game

At face value, this is a clash between two teams with matching 4-4 records. At the crux of it, though, there are conspicuous differences between these programs in the ACC frame that can’t be overlooked before betting online.

For starters, the Hokies are 2-2 while the Eagles are a woeful 0-4 in ACC play. Form is another point of contention, small though it is. However, coming off an upset win puts Virginia Tech in a better frame of mind than Boston College, which is reeling behind a fourth straight defeat.

The Hokies haven’t been entirely consistent but they appear to be in better shape than the Eagles, whose offense is failing to launch while the defense and special teams are MIA.

One of the biggest question marks hanging over this game must be the quarterback controversy brewing in Boston College. Neither Grosel nor Morehead covered themselves in glory last Saturday, so it remains to be seen how Hafley will approach this game.

If he goes with the two-quarterback rotation again, it’s hard to see how the offense will settle into any kind of a rhythm. Should he choose one over the other, the question is which one? Grosel hasn’t been great up to this point and Morehead hasn’t really had a fair shot. It’s a crapshoot.

How Las Vegas Odds for this matchup could be so close is a bit of a head-scratcher, but, on the bright side, it does make the choice for picks relatively straightforward.

Final Score: Virginia Tech 24, Boston College 10
