Cincinnati is heavily favored in the college football odds heading into its regular-season finale on Friday afternoon. The Bearcats moved into the College Football Playoff top four at No. 4 when then-No. 3 Oregon lost last week. Cincinnati will likely get a chance to compete for a national title if it defeats East Carolina, as predicted here, and Houston in the American Athletic Conference title game.
Cincinnati Bearcats at East Carolina Pirates
Odds: Cincinnati -14 (57½)
Prediction: Cincinnati 45, East Carolina 27
Cincinnati (11-0, 7-0 AAC) tries for its fourth straight-up victory over East Carolina (7-4, 5-2) on Friday. The Bearcats have covered as a substantial favorite when betting online in two of the last three meetings, only missing as a 25-point choice in a 46-43 decision in 2019.
The last four get-togethers have gone over, with the last three by a combined 68 points. Cincinnati covered for the first time in its last five games as a big favorite with a 48-14 victory over SMU last week. The Pirates had won seven straight against the spread (ATS) before beating Navy 38-35 as a 3½-point choice.
Boise State Broncos at San Diego State Aztecs
Odds: Boise State -2½ (44½)
Prediction: San Diego State 24, Boise State 21
The Mountain West Conference title game picture may be a bit more focused after No. 22 San Diego State (10-1, 6-1 MWC) plays host to Boise State (7-4, 5-2) on Friday night. The Aztecs clinch the West Division with a victory, or if Fresno State loses at San Jose State on Thursday.
The Broncos need to win, plus have Air Force lose to UNLV on Friday, to claim the Mountain Division. Boise State and San Diego State have split six meetings, with the Aztecs 5-1 against the spread after a 19-13 triumph in 2020 as a 13½-point underdog in the college football spreads.
The Broncos have won four in a row straight-up in going 3-1 ATS. The Aztecs are 0-3-1 ATS in their last four, but 3-1 straight-up. The feeling is Boise State will be eliminated from title contention when Air Force takes care of business as a 17½-point favorite later in the day.
Houston Cougars at Connecticut Huskies
Odds: Houston -32 (55½)
Prediction: Houston 45, UConn 7
No. 19 Houston (10-1) tunes up for its showdown with Cincinnati by visiting UConn (1-10) on Saturday. The Cougars have won 10 in a row straight-up, going 7-3 ATS. The independent Huskies have not won an FBS game this season, going 0-10 ATS in such contests.
UTSA Roadrunners at North Texas Mean Green
Odds: Texas-San Antonio -10½ (59½)
Prediction: UTSA 31, North Texas 27
No. 15 UTSA (11-0, 7-0 Conference USA) tries to complete a perfect regular season as it visits North Texas (5-6, 4-3). The Roadrunners have already clinched the West Division title. The schools have split eight meetings straight-up, with UTSA going 5-3 ATS. The Roadrunners haven’t covered in their last two as a 3½-point and 32½-point favorite. The Mean Green have won four in a row, straight-up and ATS, with three of those four staying under.
BYU Cougars at USC Trojans
Odds: BYU -7 (64)
Prediction: BYU 42, USC 28
No. 13 BYU (9-2) visits USC (4-6). The Cougars are in peripheral contention for a berth in a New Year’s Six bowl game, but would need No. 4 Cincinnati to lose. BYU has won four in a row straight-up while going 2-2 ATS. The Trojans are 0-5 ATS in losing their last five, including four straight-up in the Las Vegas odds.
