ACC Week 2 Best Prop Bets
We’ve officially logged one week in the books of the 2023 college football season. And after seeing a former top-10 team in the Clemson Tigers fail to score double digit points in a 28-7 road loss to the Duke Blue Devils, it’s safe to say this season could be a fun one. Heading into Week 2, there are some interesting matchups, but it’s mostly non-conference play, which fortunately doesn’t impact the ability for a good prop bet to jump off the page.
So, we broke down the college football lines and prop bets for Week 2 with the focus on the ACC, and found a few college football picks that jump out. It is worth noting that everyone goes about selecting props their own way, and the personal go-to approach here is finding spots where the over looks incredibly strong and sets us up for not only a potential cash, but an easy one wherever we can find it.

Taking NC State’s QB Brennan Armstrong – But Not For His Passing
To take a completely straight-line and candid approach here, there were many times where NC State quarterback Brennan Armstrong appeared more ready and willing to take off and run than he did throw in the team’s Week 1 win. While Armstrong did complete 17-of-26 attempts for 155 yards against Connecticut in the opener, he had his way with the Huskies on the ground, rushing for 96 yards and two touchdowns on 19 attempts – the highest number of attempts in the game.
While expecting Armstrong to push 100 rushing yards against a stout Notre Dame defense would be unrealistic, based on his volume alone, he should have no issue clearing 35.5 rushing yards. He may be forced to throw a bit more, but at the very worst, he’ll use his wheels and take off when open field shows itself, making this a solid starting play for Week 2’s college football picks.
Pick: Over 35.5 rushing yards -114
Wake Forest Pass-Catcher to Clear the Over
If targeting the Wake Forest-Vanderbilt game, a few interesting things jump out about the opposing passing game which nearly put Vandy in trouble of an upset in its opener. The Commodores allowed 351 passing yards and three touchdowns to Hawaii quarterback Brayden Schager in its 35-28 win.
Even more interesting than that, if betting online and targeting Wake’s passing attack, looking at Jahmal Banks makes a lot of sense. Based on what fans saw from Vanderbilt against Hawaii’s pass-catchers, the stars align here to make Banks one college football pick this week where the numbers make almost too much sense.
In that same game against Hawaii, Vanderbilt allowed a pair of pass-catchers in Pofele Ashlock and Steven McBride to post lines of 7-127-1 and 7-98-2, respectively. Impressive from the two players, and Banks is fresh off a 2023 debut in which he caught six passes for 108 yards and one touchdown. Take the over here on receiving yards.
Pick: Jahmal Banks over 68 receiving yards (-113)

Ride With Virginia Tech’s Passing Attack for Another Week
The jury is still out on what to think exactly about the Virginia Tech passing game, but in a matchup with Purdue in Week 2, one name made his way onto the top college football picks. Virginia Tech wideout Jaylin Lane kicked off the 2023 season with a strong debut, catching four passes for 69 yards and one touchdown.
The former Middle Tennessee State transfer is coming off a season in which he caught 69 passes for 940 yards and five scores, and has already shown a strong rapport with QB Grant Wells. Tack on the fact that Purdue is fresh off a loss to Fresno State in which they allowed lines of 9/170/2 to Erik Brooks and 8/65/1 to Jaelen Gill, who absolutely torched Purdue’s secondary, and this spot looks even more appealing.
Virginia Tech gets the home-field advantage again, and Lane’s line isn’t nearly as high as it should be after his debut performance with the Hokies.
Pick: Jaylin Lane over 55 receiving yards (-114)
Riding the Hot Hand With Wake’s QB
What would a breakdown of college football predictions be without a player prop on a quarterback’s passing yards? Sticking with the Wake Forest theme from above, the aforementioned Demon Deacons passing setup is great for quarterback Mitch Griffis. The Wake signal-caller deserves some praise after throwing for 329 yards on 19 completions in the team’s Week 1 victory, and his matchup looks good on paper.
After Vanderbilt allowed Hawaii QB Brayden Schager to throw for 351 yards and three scores, the stars align nicely for Griffis to have a big encore performance in Week 2. Griffis, who’s a sophomore, showcased a glimpse of his upside last season in very limited action, and he should be able to clear the current projected mark this week.
Pick: Mitch Griffis over 263 passing yards (-114)
