Saskatchewan Favored in Rematch Against Toronto
With quarterback Cody Fajardo still hurting, the Saskatchewan Roughriders host the Toronto Argonauts in a rematch from last week. Despite Toronto taking it to Saskatchewan, the home team Riders are the slight favorites on the CFL football betting lines. Wide receiver Duke Williams is suspended for Saskatchewan making this one a shaky scenario.
Have Argonauts Steadied the Boat?
The Roughriders aren’t the only team that has been rocked by turbulence. The Argonauts have had unsteady quarterback play amongst others. McLeod Bethel-Thompson has as many touchdowns as interceptions. His 92.6 passer rating is right in the middle among quarterbacks that have played at least four games.
Thankfully, the Argos’ defense has started to come around. Toronto lit up Fajardo last week as they sacked him five times and picked him thrice. With a hobbled Fajardo, Toronto’s pass rush will once again feast. This defense, if we exclude the disastrous outing against BC, is allowing just 22 points a game.

Of course, the offense will need to pick it up as Toronto is last in the league at just 18.8 points per game. If Bethel-Thompson can minimize his turnovers, it will go a long way to helping the defense. But as long as he’s iffy under center, you can find Toronto as an underdog on the sportsbook.
Roughriders Already Being Tested
They say adversity is what breeds champions. In that sense, consider Saskatchewan ready to dethrone Winnipeg as the team is battling through all sorts of chaos. Its players are looking unhinged, the quarterback is battered, and a COVID outbreak just postponed their game a day later. What more could happen?

As it stands, the Riders will start Fajardo. If his knee is that bad, Mason Fine will take the reins. The 25-year-old out of North Texas has only played in one CFL game going 5-of-9 and 64 yards. Either way, the Riders may be at a disadvantage on offense with Williams, the top receiver, also missing.
Fortunately, the defense remains elite. Saskatchewan allows just 21.5 points and 60 rushing yards per game, which are top-two in the CFL. They are 4-0 when they limit opponents to 20 points or fewer. The Riders are also unbeaten at home (3-0). Even with all their issues, the defense makes Saskatchewan worth betting online.

The point spread is the same as last week, which Toronto covered emphatically. The total this week is ½ points more as it went eight points over the last time. But prior to the Argos’ win, Saskatchewan had won five straight against Toronto with the last three being by 14 points or greater.

Argonauts vs Roughriders Prediction
Was last week just a fluke for Toronto? We saw how Saskatchewan handled Montreal after it was blown out. This may be something similar though the absences in Saskatchewan’s side are concerning. But thankfully, the defense should be able to mitigate the damage the Argos can do making this a potentially low-scoring affair.
We’re leaning on Saskatchewan here though the questionable status at QB is why we ranked Toronto higher in the Power Rankings. Instead, bet on this game to go under the total. Four of their last five meetings have gone over so a market correction could be due here.
