The Arkansas Razorbacks and Auburn Tigers were both physically and mentally exhausted after Week 7. Luckily, they got a much-needed week off in Week 8.
With both teams returning off a full week of rest, which squad will be the best option versus the college football odds?
Before they took a week off, the Razorbacks went on the road and traveled to the Wasatch Mountain city of Provo, Utah, to beat BYU 52-35.
The Arkansas offense had stumbled for much of the month of October. The Hogs were inconsistent and mistake-prone, but that ended against BYU.
Quarterback K.J. Jefferson had a big day and the Arkansas offense seemed to regain a missing spark after a downward spiral, which began in late September with a costly fumble against Texas A&M which completely turned that game around.
Arkansas and Jefferson hope that they can sustain what they did against BYU and display that same level of potency against Auburn.
Arkansas has struggled against Auburn recently. Coach Sam Pittman is 0-2 against the Tigers, and he lost last year at home to a not-good Auburn team.
He needs to figure out how to beat the Tigers this season, or else the fans are going to get restless in Hogville. They’re favored in the sportsbook, for what that’s worth.
The Tigers were toothless on defense in a 48-34 loss to Ole Miss. The offense did its part.
Backup quarterback Robby Ashford, filling in for starter T.J. Finley, guided the Tigers to 34 points and kept them in the game for the first three quarters, but the defense simply had no answers for Ole Miss.
The Tigers were constantly playing catch-up as they were not able to string together defensive stops.
Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin is expected to be fired by the end of the season, so it’s an open question as to whether this team will compete all-out for its coaching staff.
The other option is that the players will lose faith in the final weeks of the season and perhaps seek the transfer portal in the 2023 off-season.

Arkansas vs Auburn Prediction
Those who bet online know that the Auburn Tigers have had Arkansas’ number in recent years. However, this year, feels different.
Auburn has a lame-duck head coach and a backup quarterback with a defense that doesn’t seem capable or passionate.
Arkansas seemed to regain a rhythm on offense against BYU after several weeks of struggles. With a full week of rest, Arkansas should be physically and mentally refreshed for this game.
The Hogs should be able to win on the road and improve their bowl position heading into the month of November. And it’s a short number here, so it seems to make sense that Arkansas can get the win and cover the spread for your college football picks.
