Army vs Navy Picks: Bet Black Knights to Cover Spread Dec 14

The Army Black Knights are a solid online bet to reach 12 wins for the first time in school history on Saturday afternoon in Landover, Md., when they take on the Navy Midshipmen for the 125th time.

The 22nd-ranked Black Knights have rolled through their schedule with the lone loss coming at College Football Playoff participant Notre Dame. Army knocked off Tulane 35-14 to win the American Athletic Conference title last week and will play Marshall in the Independence Bowl on Dec. 28.

Per Navy vs Army stats, the Black Knights have a nearly unstoppable rushing attack that leads the nation at 314.4 yards per game. Quarterback Bryson Daily is tied with Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty for the national lead with 29 touchdowns on the ground.

Navy started the season with six straight wins, but a big loss at Notre Dame (51-14) began a rough final five games. The Midshipmen went 2-3 down the stretch, but still have their most wins since 2019.

Top 3 Army vs Navy Betting Tips

1. Bet Black Knights ML and ATS

Army was actually right in the game with Notre Dame late in the second quarter, but two late touchdowns by the Fighting Irish led to a 28-7 halftime deficit and a 49-14 loss.

The Black Knights trailed after three quarters before edging UTSA 29-24 but failed to cover the NCAA spread. Army followed that up by defeating a favored Tulane team at home in the AAC Championship Game 35-14.

Has it all been too much on the Black Knights lately? No, they are military cadets. They don’t get tired. Daily has rushed for 1,480 yards (ninth in the nation) and thrown for eight TDs with just one interception.

Kanye Udoh has also rushed for 1,064 yards and 10 scores while Casey Reynolds is averaging 23.7 yards on just 18 receptions for Army. The Black Knights have also had their moments on defense with 17 interceptions – tied for fourth in the country.

Army has just been too good. Bet the Knights on the moneyline and to cover the spread.

Bet on Army (-255) and (-6½)

2. Why Bet Against The Midshipmen?

Navy was rolling along until the Notre Dame game when it turned the ball over six times.

The Midshipmen averaged 17.2 points the last five games, but did put up 34 to win at bowl-bound East Carolina in their last game on Nov. 29. Navy also scored 56 against a good Memphis team as a 9-point underdog in the college football lines on Sept. 21.

Quarterback Blake Horvath (11 TDs passing, 13 rushing TDs) missed the East Carolina game with a rib injury and is questionable, but Braxton Woodson rushed for 125 yards and two scores. Woodson also threw for 165 yards and a TD versus the Pirates. Monitor college football news for injury updates.

Whether it’s Horvath (6.7 yards per carry) or Woodson, it will be up to the Navy offensive line to keep the ball away from the Army offense.

For our NCAA football predictions, we think Navy will stay in the game for a while, but won’t be able to fully hold down the Army offense.

3. Over Could Be Good Bet Again

Under bettors padded their bankrolls for 16 straight seasons in this matchup before the last two.

Army beat Navy 20-17 in overtime in 2022 to snap a long winning streak for the under bettors and the 17-11 win for the Black Knights last season was a push.

The number is currently set at 38 for this matchup and it sure looks like these two teams can top that if conditions are good enough. These teams don’t pass a lot, so the forecast of 42-degree, cloudy weather should not affect the rushing attacks.

The college football pick is for a score about 31-14 or 28-17. Bet the over.

Bet on Army vs Navy Over 38 points
