3 Betting Keys for Army vs Temple
1. Defense is Extremely Good for Black Knights
Army has rolled to victories in its first three games this season, thanks in no small part to a suffocating defense. The Black Knights have allowed a total of 28 points in their three victories, with only Rice last week able to score more than a touchdown.
The run defense has been excellent this season, holding opponents to just 85 rushing yards per game, which is tied for 16th in the country with Penn State. The Black Knights limited Rice Owls to just 41 yards on the ground in last week’s win.
Not that the defense against the pass is bad, either. Army picked off two Rice passes in last week’s win, made the score 30-0 with a safety in the third quarter and didn’t allow the visitors to sniff the end zone until that 30-point margin was established.

For Temple to be a consideration in college football picks, it is going to have to be better with the ball as it already has 11 turnovers this season (five interceptions, six fumbles lost). Six of those turnovers came in a season-opening loss to Oklahoma, but still, the Owls have their work cut out for them to be able to hold onto the ball and score against the Black Knights in this one.
2. Daily’s Versatility Makes Army Hard to Stop
Playing against a tough defense is one thing, but playing against a tough defense played by a team that can rack up the points puts even more pressure on a team. That’s the case when facing Army, which is averaging 34.3 points.
The man at the controls of the offense is quarterback Bryson Daily, who has rushed for five touchdowns and thrown for three more. The senior is a true dual-threat quarterback, rushing for 340 yards this season while passing for 186.
Daily made college football news with his performance against Rice, rushing for 145 yards and three touchdowns while also passing for 107 yards and two scores. His ability to keep a defense guessing makes him extremely dangerous. And having a short week to prepare for Daily means the pressure is on Temple.
“(He’s) just protecting the ball and taking care of our team, that’s his job, and he runs the ball really tough,” Army coach Jeff Monken said of Daily. “I know he ran for a bunch of yards (Saturday) but did a good job delivering the football, as well, when he was throwing the football. He’s playing better, and we just hopefully can keep him healthy and continuing to improve.”
Daily isn’t the only offensive threat for the Black Knights, however, with running back Noah Short rushing for 266 yards this season, averaging 13.3 yards per carry. Running back Kanye Udho has 169 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
3. Owls Have Potential Offensively
The Temple offense has been improving each week, going from just three points against Oklahoma to last week’s 45 points in a win over Utah State. That improvement must continue against Army if the Owls are going to pull the upset in NCAAF predictions.
Junior Evan Simon is in his first season with the Temple Owls after spending three years with Rutgers. He’s completing 65.4% of his passes for 456 yards and seven touchdowns, and he has just one of the team’s interceptions. Simon had 271 yards and five passing touchdowns last week in his second start for the Owls while Forrest Brock continued to deal with a wrist injury.
Brock started the first two games of the season but was hurt against Navy in Week 2. Since then, Simon has been running the show – and quite well.
Evan Simon also received an Honorable Mention from the @American_Conf for his performance against Utah State this past weekend‼️

Can Simon match Daily and the Army offense? He’ll need to, and avoid costly turnovers as well.
We like Temple to be able to score more than any other Black Knights opponent this season, keeping this one close. When you bet online, go with Temple to stay close enough to cover the spread.
