Perfect Record at Stake

Auburn Slumping Offensively
The Auburn Tigers have gone four straight games without scoring 20 points, losing three of those contests, including last week’s 42-10 rout by the Georgia Bulldogs. Auburn is last in the Southeastern Conference in scoring average, putting up just 20.33 points per contest.
“At some point you got to put some points on the board. You got to even the game out. You got to keep it close. You got to give your guys hope,” Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin said after Saturday’s loss to Georgia.
Freshman quarterback Robby Ashford has been trying to get the Tigers moving, but he’s passed for just 874 yards and four touchdowns while also throwing three interceptions. Ashford can run the ball, rushing for 275 yards and a score and averaging 4.7 yards per carry.
Auburn will try to get the running game going behind junior Tank Bigsby, who has rushed for 345 yards after going for over 1,000 a season ago. Bigsby struggled against Georgia last weekend, rushing 10 times for just 19 yards, easily a season-low total.
Rebels Try to Keep Rolling
The Ole Miss Rebels have been perfect record-wise, but they have a tough road ahead, with games against LSU and Texas A&M on the road followed by a home game with Alabama. If the Rebels are going to keep themselves in the race for a division crown, they need to beat the teams they should, and Auburn is one of those teams.
Ole Miss is third in the SEC in scoring defense, allowing just 14.5 points per game to rank behind only Alabama and Georgia. The Rebels have started to yield more points of late – allowing a season-high 28 in a win over Vanderbilt last weekend – but the offense has done enough to keep them undefeated.
Sophomore quarterback Jaxson Dart threw for 448 yards and three touchdowns in last week’s win, completing 25 of 32 pass attempts. Dart has thrown for 1,358 yards and eight touchdowns, but he also has five interceptions, which could be problematic against opportunistic defenses.
Dart has one of the most explosive targets in college football in senior wide receiver Jonathan Mingo, who is averaging 23 yards per catch. Mingo had nine catches for 247 yards and two touchdowns last weekend, including a 72-yard strike.
