Back Penn State to Run Over UMass
The Penn State Nittany Lions are expected to dominate the Massachusetts Minutemen, if the Vegas college football odds are any indication.
They are a -42½ favorite to beat the hapless Minutemen (1-6), who could be in for a long afternoon at Beaver Stadium.

Wait a Minute?
Bettors are waiting patiently for UMass to score another win, but it will probably be another week.
The sportsbook gives the Minutemen little chance of winning outright, and there aren’t even moneyline markets up, so a win seems highly unlikely.
However, covering the +42½ spread is a possibility, but they need to play much better than in recent weeks.
They come off a 41-24 loss against Toledo, and they weren’t even able to beat the likes of New Mexico and Eastern Michigan. This doesn’t bode well with the No. 6 team on the horizon.
On the plus side, the offense is doing well enough to stay competitive. They scored 31 points in defeat to New Mexico, which came in overtime, and they average more passing yards per game than the Nittany Lions.
However, the defense has been torn to shreds, allowing a whopping 452.1 yards per game – 123rd among the 130 FBS teams.
If that doesn’t change on Saturday, they could be looking at a 30-0 scoreline, and that’s just at halftime. Betting online markets would move the line to around -55 at the half if that’s the case.
Penn State Back in Title Contention
As previously unbeaten teams around them continue to lose, the Nittany Lions (5-0) are in a good position to push for a college football playoff spot.
Producing a big win against the likes of UMass helps their cause, and equally if it’s a closer game than expected, hurts.

We expect most NCAAF bet predictions for Oct. 15 to feature Penn State, and its offense could be too much for the Minutemen to handle.
The Nittany Lions have numerous quality wins on their record, including 41-13 over Northwestern last week and a 31-0 demolition of Iowa.
It’s why sport betting markets have them favored so heavily, and quarterback Drew Allar was complimentary of their defense against Northwestern.
“Defense battled all day,” Allar told the media. “Very impressed by them. Very, very happy that they’re our defense. They had our backs when we weren’t doing well in the beginning. We finally picked it up in the second half. They still did their thing. We were able to play a little bit better complementary football in the second half.”

UMass vs Penn State Game Prediction
Predicted Score: Penn State 58, UMASS 10
Worth Betting the Moneyline?
Because there is such a big margin between them, there are no moneyline odds available. However, there could be College Football live betting odds available.
If UMass gets off to a good start, they could appear with moneyline betting markets.
Worth Betting ATS?
Penn State should run through UMass to set up a big win. The rain is our only worry, but it’s not going to help UMass either.
Given the significant class advantage to the home side, bettors should be confident of the spread being covered.
College Football Pick: Penn State -42½
Worth Betting on the Totals?
The number would have been higher had rain not been forecast. However, we’re happy to include over 56 in our picks.
Most of those points will come from Penn State, but if UMass gets on the board with at least one touchdown, we see the number going over.
College Football Pick: Over 56
Is UMass a good bet to cover the spread against Penn State?
No. UMass hasn’t played well so far, and Penn State has one of the best offenses in college football.
