Back the Over for Mississippi State vs Texas A&M

SEC West teams will each try to boost their spot in the standings and bounce back from recent losses when the Texas A&M Aggies host the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday. The Aggies are still one game away from a bowl berth after they fell short against Ole Miss last week while Mississippi State sits in last in the West on a two-game losing skid.

Both will aim to get back into the win column, but college football Las Vegas odds has A&M as a heavy favorite.

Mississippi State Stalls Out

The Mississippi State Bulldogs have lost their last two games after their offense has hit a wall with starting quarterback Will Rogers out.

Rogers has been sidelined for Mississippi State’s last three games, and in that time, the Bulldogs have averaged 7.7 points and 256 total yards behind the play of backup quarterback Mike Wright.

Rogers helped the Bulldogs to a 41-point performance against Western Michigan before he was sidelined in the final quarter. He has thrown for 1,275 yards, 10 touchdowns and four interceptions this season.

With Rogers looking like he may be ready to go once again Saturday, the Bulldogs’ offense should get a jump-start, but bettors may want to wait to see if he’s in the lineup before looking at live betting odds.

Texas A&M Loses Late

The Texas A&M Aggies couldn’t build on their win over South Carolina after they lost in a shootout to Ole Miss last week.

Despite a second straight week in which Texas A&M scored 30 or more points, averaging 405.5 yards in those two games, the Aggies lost when their last-second field goal to tie against Mississippi was blocked.

Quarterback Max Johnson had one of his best days yet after stepping in for the injured Connor Weigman, throwing for a season-high 305 yards and one touchdown, though he threw an interception as well.

The Aggies are sixth in the SEC, averaging 32.3 points, and against a mediocre Mississippi State defense, they should be a solid NCAA football pick for another strong offensive day.

Mississippi State vs Texas A&M Best Bet

With the Aggies at home and searching for a bowl berth, the sportsbook has them as a heavy favorite with college football spreads favoring them by 17 points. However, with the status of Bulldogs quarterback Rogers still unknown, bettors may want to bet the total instead. NCAA football lines have placed the over/under at 42 points.

Despite Mississippi State’s offensive struggles recently, both teams should be able to reach the total. Texas A&M’s offense has been solid lately, and against a weaker Bulldogs defense, it should be able to score enough to make up most of the points to cover the total.

If Rogers plays, that will boost Mississippi State’s offense as well. If not, the Bulldogs should still be able to battle and keep things interesting enough to reach the total.
