Longhorns Favored in Texas Battle
The Texas Longhorns and Baylor Bears rivalry continue on Friday and it could be an epic encounter.
The Longhorns got back to their winning ways last week and college football odds have them at -8½ against the Bears, who choked against TCU.
Let’s check the latest college football odds, stats, injury reports and college football lines for Baylor vs Texas. We’ve plenty of NCAA football odds for you to consider.
Bears Needing Bounce Back
We’re not sure how the Bears lost to No. 4 TCU 29-28 last week, but it happened and it was their consecutive loss against a ranked team.
They had previously lost 31-3 to Kansas State in a terrible effort, so the Bears need to get back to their best against Texas, but it’s not going to be easy.
The last three times the Bears played Texas on the road resulted in three losses, including a 27-16 defeat in 2020, so they know the task at hand.
The sportsbook isn’t giving the Bears much respect at +8½, which is fair enough after their last two defeats. They were unable to hold on against TCU and that’s a worrying sign, especially ahead of a huge Big 12 game.
“It’s a tough locker room,” Baylor coach Dave Aranda said. “I told them that I wish that we, that I, could take the pain away.“
Baylor is 7-4 against the spread, so bettors have cashed in and getting more than a touchdown head start is a rare territory for the Bears. They haven’t started worse than a three-point underdog in their last 10 games.
Longhorns Back to Best
The Longhorns thrashed Kansas 55-14 last week and that should be the confidence boost they needed after losing to TCU 17-10.
They didn’t lose any admirers with the loss, especially having beaten Kansas State 34-27 the week prior. We were surprised that they were favorites to beat TCU, but such is the betting online confidence with this team.
“We’ve got a bunch of fighters. We have a great deal of resiliency. These guys have shown an unbelievable amount of perseverance, and I told them that in the locker room,” Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said. “I was proud of them. I was very proud of them for the maturity they showed in this game.”
Like the Bears, the Longhorns are 7-4 ATS but they haven’t covered the spread against Baylor since 2017. It has been a long time between drinks, despite going 2-2 head-to-head during that span.
