Best ACC Bets Week 10: Two Top Teams Roll and Conference’s Newest Surprise Pulls Off ‘Upset’

Week 10 of ACC play has a few head-scratching matchups, including a game between the North Carolina Tar Heels and Campbell. Along with that, there are some interesting games with close spreads, but a few great spots to target in terms of betting options. We’re going to break down the best bets of the week, one of which is a game that could potential set one team up for a berth in the ACC Championship Game.

Boston College with the ‘Upset’ of Syracuse

The Boston College Eagles have looked like a different team in recent weeks, winning four consecutive games. Now, they head on the road to face a Syracuse team that began the year 4-0 but has since dropped four consecutive games. Boston College, and specifically quarterback Thomas Castellanos, has been playing incredibly well, and it’s tough to envision a struggling Orange team snapping its skid in this spot.

Not only has Syracuse lost all four games in this stretch by at least 17 points (with three of the four by 28, 33 and 38), but the Orange have failed to score more than 14 points in any of those games. This matchup isn’t great for the Orange and I think we see another big game from Castellanos, as the Eagles attempt to get their sixth win of the season and become bowl eligible.

College Football Pick: Boston College ML (+110) or Boston College +3 (-140)

Louisville Puts Itself in Prime Position for Spot in ACC Title Game

The Louisville Cardinals find themselves in prime position to build off a strong 23-0 win at home over Duke and in turn, land in a prime spot for a potential trip to the ACC Championship Game. If Louisville (7-1, 4-1 in ACC play) can hold down its home-field advantage against Virginia Tech (4-4 overall, 3-1 in ACC play), it’ll distance itself from the Hokies, and stand alone as the No. 2 team in the ACC as the only one-loss team and behind only unbeaten Florida State.

While Virginia Tech has won two straight and three of four, those victories have come against three of the four bottom teams in the ACC. As for Louisville, they had a slip-up against Pitt, but defeated Notre Dame, Duke, NC State and Boston College, all of which are are .500 or better in ACC play (not including the Irish, who aren’t technically in the conference).

Behind playmakers in running back Jawhar Jordan, who has 824 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns, and wide receiver Jamari Thrash (712 receiving yards, six touchdowns), the Louisville offense is going to cause major issues for the Hokies, and should cover the spread of less than double digits.

College Football Pick: Louisville -9½ (-110)

Notre Dame Makes a Statement

Notre Dame didn’t take its foot off the gas following an impressive 48-20 win over then-No. 10 ranked USC, proceeding to demolish Pittsburgh 58-7 last week. Notre Dame’s lone losses this season came against the then-No. 6 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes, and a road game against Louisville, which looks primed to be ACC Championship Game-bound. A road test in a tough environment is never easy, but Clemson’s loss to NC State last week feels like it sucked a bit of life out of an already-disappointing season.

While the Tigers are in need of wins to secure bowl eligibility, attempting to right the ship on the season against this Irish team isn’t exactly an ideal spot, as Notre Dame has allowed 15.3 points per game this season.

I like the Irish to keep rolling even on the road against a Clemson team in serious need of a victory.

College Football Pick: Notre Dame -3 (-125)
