Best College Football Bets for ACC Week 8: Maye, UNC Lead Way With Plus-Money Prop Pick

When the NCAA football betting lines came out this week, the ACC had several players worth circling to monitor their prop bets. There are some potentially great spots to target, but we broke it down to the best bunch here and created a few player-prop parlays in the process. Let’s dive in and start with a pair of bets on undefeated North Carolina players that can be parlayed for decent odds.

North Carolina Player Props to Parlay or Play Solo

I’m going to circle the two North Carolina Tar Heels offensive playmakers in this game, both in solo bets and then parlayed together. The matchup with Virginia is a great one. They’re at home and looking to push to 7-0 while facing a UVA team that allows 177 yards per game on the ground. In addition, quarterback Drake Maye looks like an even more superior version that he was hyped up to be before the season.

Maye got off to a somewhat slow start to the season, but over the past two games has thrown seven total touchdown passes (four against Miami and three against Syracuse). Considering Maye’s level of talent paired with how well he’s played, I think we’re in a great spot to take him to throw for three touchdowns again — best of all, it comes at plus-money college football odds as well.

Then there’s UNC running back Omarion Hampton, who draws a matchup with tremendous upside. Not only has the Virginia defense struggled mightily against the run, but Hampton has averaged 6.0 yards per carry against ACC opponents this season and is fresh off a 24-carry, 197-yard rushing performance against Miami. His total rushing yard prop for this game is set at 87 yards, and I think we see him clear the century mark.

College Football Pick No. 1: North Carolina QB Drake Maye 3 or more passing TDs (+112)

College Football Pick No. 2: North Carolina RB Omarion Hampton 87 or more rushing yards (-114)

College Football Parlay Price: +275

Georgia Tech RB in Great Spot to Smash Total

While Georgia Tech running back Jamal Haynes has landed below the 58-yard mark needed to clear his rushing prop this week over the past two games, he’s in a great spot to return to the form we saw in the two games prior.

Haynes received just seven and eight carries (33 and 45 yards) over the past two weeks, but while last week was a bit of an enigma, the game before featured the Yellow Jackets playing from behind from the second quarter and throughout the entire second half.

Haynes’ carries checked in at 18 and 19 in the two games before that, and he finished with 95 and 72 yards against run defense that were quite a bit better than what Boston College has boasted this season. The Eagles have allowed 162 rushing yards per game, and with Georgia Tech checking in as a 5½-point college football betting favorite, I think we see Haynes return to the 15-plus carry range, which should give him plenty of touches to help clear 58 rushing yards.

College Football Pick: Georgia Tech RB Jamal Haynes 58 or more rushing yards (-104)

ACC Player Prop Bet Parlay With Big Odds

I decided to take a bit of an alternate route here with the big-player ACC prop parlay. Boston College quarterback Thomas Castellanos is one of the highest-upside dual-threat quarterbacks that no one’s talking about. He’s fresh off a game in which he had 31 rushing attempts for 142 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. He’s scored seven rushing touchdowns this season and has 500 total yards.

Next up for Castellanos and Boston College? A matchup with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, who have allowed a league-worst 214.3 rushing yards per game this year. This is a huge spot for Castellanos to build off last week, and his betting odds to score two more non-passing touchdowns check in at +250. It’s not an easy task, obviously, but the odds are worth it, especially if you find another good spot to parlay it with for plus money.

That’s where Drake Maye comes in. We touched on the North Carolina quarterback’s recent red-hot stretch of late. I think he’ll throw for three touchdowns at least, and getting that spot at +112 and pairing it up with Castellanos to score two or more touchdowns has plenty of appeal. Tread lightly, because there’s risk involved in this bet, but the spots make a ton of sense.

College Football Pick: Boston College QB Thomas Castellanos with 2 or more non-passing TDs (+250) and UNC QB Drake Maye 3 or more TD passes (+112)

College Football Parlay odds: +650
