Five of the eight Big Ten games this week have double-digit NCAA football spreads, with nationally ranked Ohio State, Oregon and Penn State squads all playing at home. There will be a few eyes on the rematch of last season’s national title game when Washington plays host to Michigan.

Things get going on Friday night when Oregon is a 24-point favorite against visiting Michigan State. The Rutgers-Nebraska, Michigan-Washington and USC-Minnesota matchups could be the most competitive of Saturday’s Big Ten games.

Three of the top eight teams in the odds of winning the national championship are Big Ten programs according to the college football futures odds. Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State and Michigan are the only Big Ten teams in the top 10 in the latest Associated Press poll.

Let’s take a look at some of the bets to consider as Michigan State, Purdue and UCLA are the only Big Ten teams listed as home underdogs in Week 6.

Top 3 Big Ten Bets for Week 6

Michigan to Take Title Rematch as Road Underdog

The sequel is certainly not topping the original when it comes to the Michigan football team. Coming off an undefeated season and a national championship, the Wolverines lost many of its top players as well as head coach Jim Harbaugh to the NFL.

The Wolverines have been outgained in each of their last two games, only to post 27-24 wins against USC and Minnesota. Now comes a rematch of the national championship game with 4-1 Michigan currently a 2.5-point road underdog against a 3-2 Washington squad according to the BetUS sportsbook odds. This will be the first road game for the 2024 Michigan squad.

The Huskies opened the Big Ten era with a win over Northwestern before stumbling against Rutgers. Michigan has covered in each of its last three games as a road underdog and has won outright in two of those matchups. Michigan thrives in the us against the world mindset and being the underdog should give the Wolverines some added motivation this week in NCAA football picks.

Wisconsin to Score First Against Purdue (-213)

Who wins out when a bad offense meets up with a terrible defense?

Among Big Ten teams, only Northwestern and UCLA have scored fewer touchdowns this season than Wisconsin. In three games against Football Bowl Subdivision opponents, the Badgers are hardly badgering the competition with seven touchdowns in three games. That is still two more than Purdue scored in three FBS games.

Most of the scoring in Purdue games comes from the other team. After finishing last in the Big Ten in scoring defense in 2023, the Boilermakers somehow regressed on defense this season.

That last number is the one to keep an eye on for NCAA football prop betting. Go with Wisconsin at -213 to score first.

Rutgers ATS Pick as an Underdog vs Nebraska

It doesn’t always look pretty when Rutgers hits the football field. However, a dominant running game and a resourceful defense is enough for the Scarlet Knights to head into their second road game of the season at 4-0.

Rutgers won each of its two games against FBS foes by three points. In last week’s win over Washington, the Huskies ran 12 plays in Rutgers territory in the first three drives and scored just three points.

The Scarlet Knights tend to give up yards but no Big Ten team is tougher to score on in the red zone than Rutgers with six scores and four touchdowns in 11 red-zone drives by the opponents.

Nebraska and its star freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola are listed as a seven-point favorite. Go with Rutgers to find a way to hang around and cover as the road underdog for college football predictions.
