Bet Cooley to Score 2 TDs in FIU vs Liberty 10/8

The college football odds opened with Liberty as a 19.5-point favorite but the line has moved to 17. The Flames have won 11 straight games as the home favorite but covered in just six of those matchups.

Liberty leads Conference USA in scoring defense and is second in scoring offense heading into the third career matchup with FIU. Liberty joins Army and Navy as the only teams from the Group of Five conferences with undefeated records heading into Week 7.

The BetUS sportsbook odds have the total at 55½ for the Tuesday night game. Just one of Liberty’s first four games this season landed under the total while three of FIU’s first five games landed over.

1. Liberty RB Quinton Cooley

Quinton Cooley is making up for lost time after failing to score a touchdown in each of the first four games during the 2023 season. Since then, Cooley has touchdown runs in 11 of Liberty’s last 13 games during the regular season with 20 TD runs during that stretch.

Cooley ran for 102 yards in last year’s game against Florida International but failed to reach the end zone. He has six games with at least two touchdown runs since the start of the 2023 season.

FIU is allowing 4.7 yards per carry and has given up 13 scoring runs in five games this season. Nine of those scores have come in the four games versus Football Bowl Subdivision competition so that is enough to consider Cooley at +150 to score at least two touchdowns in NCAA football picks.

2. FIU RB Lexington Joseph

Lexington Joseph has been with the FIU program since the 2019 season and scored his first touchdown against Liberty during the 2020 season.

Joseph missed the entire 2023 season after leading the Golden Panthers with 536 rushing yards and five touchdowns as a junior in 2022. Shomari Lawrence and Kejon Owens stepped into larger roles with Joseph being unable to play.

Owens had been the busiest of the three running backs. However, in last week’s win over Louisiana Tech, it was Joseph who led the Golden Panthers with 73 yards on 13 carries. Owens averaged just 2.9 yards on his 14 carries.

While Owens and receiver Eric Rivers, who leads FIU with three touchdown grabs, are solid touchdown prop bet options. However, we like Joseph at +200 to get into the end zone on Tuesday.

3. Liberty WR Treon Sibley

With last year’s top receiver, CJ Daniels, now at LSU, Liberty lost the player who had a team-leading 10 touchdown catches a season ago.

After scoring four times during the 2023 season, Treon Sibley is averaging 22.3 yards per reception. However, he has only gotten into the end zone once this season and it came in the season opener against Campbell.

Sibley was pretty quiet in the Sept. 21 matchup against East Carolina with two catches for 16 yards. FIU has only allowed five touchdown catches this season but with +100 online betting odds, go with Sibley to score at least one touchdown against FIU.
