A battle of traditional Power 4 Conference powers is on tap for Saturday afternoon when the Alabama Crimson Tide visit the Wisconsin Badgers at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wis. The ontest is scheduled for noon ET and will be televised by FOX.

No. 4 Alabama is 2-0 after a pair of home wins over Western Kentucky and South Florida. The Alabama Crimson Tide are in their first season under head coach Kalen DeBoer after a long run of success under the since-retired Nick Saban.
The Badgers are looking to get back to the glory days of the late 2010s, when they recorded double-digit wins in five out of six seasons. Wisconsin has finished 7-6 the last two seasons and is in its second year under head coach Luke Fickell.
The college football odds are favoring Alabama in this one, with the visitors giving 16½ points to Wisconsin. Betting on the moneyline will get you the Crimson Tide at -705 or the Badgers at +505 for the straight-up win. The over/under for the contest has been set at 49 points, with -105 odds on the over and -115 on the under.
3 Key Points for Betting Alabama vs Wisconsin
1. Crimson Tide Have an Explosive, Inconsistent Offense
It looked like there might have been some major college football news coming out of Tuscaloosa last weekend when the Crimson Tide were in a dogfight with South Florida for much of their contest. The Bulls were within a point heading into the fourth quarter, but that’s when Alabama took control by scoring 28 points, including 21 in the final 5:50 of the contest.
“In the fourth quarter, staying away from the penalties and turnovers, it’s amazing what can happen,” DeBoer said.
Quarterback Jalen Milroe had a big game, running for two touchdowns and throwing a pair of fourth-quarter scores to help the Crimson Tide to a 42-16 victory. He finished 17-of-27 for 199 yards passing, though there were troubles as he was sacked four times and lost a fumble in the red zone.
Freshman wide receiver Ryan Williams has lived up to the hype in his first two collegiate games, finding the end zone on three of his six receptions. Williams has scored from at least 40 yards on each of his touchdowns and is averaging 34.5 yards per catch.
With a number of dynamic offensive performers – Alabama’s last three touchdowns against South Florida all came from at least 29 yards out – the Crimson Tide can stretch out a defense, making it easier for Milroe to operate in the passing game and making it hard to stop the ground attack.
2. D Must Keep Wisconsin in the Game
Wisconsin has held its first two opponents this season to a total of 27 points, but that’s obviously against offenses that aren’t as dynamic as the Crimson Tide’s. The Badgers have long been known for having hard-nosed defensive units, but they’ll have to be quick in this one to keep up with all of the Alabama playmakers.
While the Badgers have to drop into coverage to keep up with all the explosive receiving threats, they also have to be able to get to Milroe and not just let him sit back and pick them apart. Wisconsin has just four sacks this season and will have to bring more pressure on the Alabama signal caller.

If the Wisconsin defense is going to give up points, it has to make Alabama work for them with long drives as opposed to quick strikes. Easier said than done (just ask South Florida), but the Badgers have to make this contest a physical brawl to stay in it and try to defy the college football predictions.

3. Badgers Have to Be Offensive In Red Zone
In this game and in the new loaded Big Ten, Wisconsin has to be able to score points to stay in games. Long gone are the days that the Badgers’ defense could hold teams to low scores and just kick field goals to get wins.
Wisconsin has struggled a bit when getting to the red zone this season, especially passing the ball. Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke is 4-of-12 for 31 yards when passing in the red zone this season, something that needs to improve against the Crimson Tide.
“We’ve been a little erratic there,” Wisconsin offensive coordinator Phil Longo said, “and I think it’s more about polishing some of the things that we have. ‘We just missed one throw, we got out a little late,’ you have all the excuses. We just need to be sharper in the red zone.”
Scoring field goals isn’t going to be enough against Alabama, as South Florida found out last week. Three of the Bulls’ four scores were field goals instead of touchdowns. Getting to the end zone on those would have put much more pressure on the Crimson Tide.
Unfortunately for the Wisconsin Badgers, we don’t see them being able to keep up with Alabama on Saturday. The Crimson Tide are looking to make a statement on the road, and they’ll light up the scoreboard throughout.
When doing your betting online, take the Crimson Tide and give the points, as they’ll cover the 16½-point spread.
