Time flies when you’re having fun, and we’re already looking at the college football lines for Week 3. This week’s slate of games features a plethora of sizable spreads, which means we could be headed for our fair share of blowouts.

Yet, there are a few spots I like, mainly with games viewed more as toss-ups. One word of caution: It is easy to overreact to the previous week’s results.

Nowhere was this more evident than Houston, which was left for dead after a 20-point loss to UNLV in Week 1. The Cougars nearly upset Oklahoma one week later. Some of us were way wrong on that one.

Life comes at you fast, and teams are never quite as bad (or good) as their last outing.

Here’s a look at my best college football bets for Week 3.

5 NCAAF Bets to Consider in Week 3

1. QB DJ Lagway Powers Florida (+4½) vs Texas A&M

I get it, we’ve all given up on Florida. There is some reason for hope in Gainesville thanks to freshman quarterback DJ Lagway.

The former five-star recruit may be the only person that can prevent coach Billy Napier from getting canned before the season ends. Lagway threw for 456 yards and three touchdowns in his college debut in Week 2.

Now, Texas A&M is a lot better than Samford, which lost to the Gators last week. Yet, I am not convinced that the Aggies are good.

Everyone is fading Florida, but we love a good home dog. The Swamp plus Lagway’s arrival gives the Gators a good chance to pull off the upset.

Bet on Florida Gators at +4½ -105

2. Houston (-5) Keeps Momentum Going by Covering vs Rice

That sound you heard is Houston rising from the dead. One week after getting blown out by UNLV, Houston nearly upset Oklahoma before falling 16-12 to the Sooners.

This week, we get a Houston showdown as Rice takes on the Cougars. Vegas is overreacting to Rice’s 69-7 win over Texas Southern, one week after the Owls lost by 20 to Sam Houston.

Houston appeared to find its footing against Oklahoma. This is not a Big 12 contender, but the Cougars should cover the 5-point spread at the BetUS sportsbook.

Bet on Houston Cougars at -5 -110

3. UCF (+1½) Covers vs TCU Thanks to RJ Harvey and Co.

The truth is we know very little about either of these teams thanks to relatively easy schedules. TCU enters this matchup more tested thanks to a 34-27 victory over Stanford in the season opener.

UCF outscored its first two opponents 102-17, but it means very little with the best opponent being Sam Houston. We’re still waiting for KJ Jefferson to prove he can win games in the pocket, but the QB may not have to because the Knights have about 17 running backs, including star RJ Harvey.

The Knights have enough talent on defense and in the backfield to win this game, even without a passing game.

Bet on Central Florida at +1½ -110

4. Notre Dame (-11½) Gets Right By Covering vs Purdue

Everyone is going to spend the week torching Notre Dame, which makes it a perfect time to bet the Fighting Irish in the college football odds. Purdue is not exactly a powerhouse, but it is still a Big Ten team.

Unfortunately for the Boilermakers, the squad could bear the brunt of Notre Dame’s frustration after its stunning home loss to Northern Illinois. Take the Irish to cover in the NCAA football lines.

Bet on Notre Fame Fighting Irish at -11 ½ -110

5. Bet San Diego State (+18) to Cover vs Cal

This is the perfect example of the college football odds overreacting to the previous week’s results. San Diego State’s offense was held scoreless against Oregon State. Meanwhile, Cal upset Auburn.

This is a massive spread and the Aztecs have enough offensive firepower to bounce back in Week 3. SDSU is a strong bet to cover the spread in the CFB odds versus Cal.
