It is Week 1 and we’re letting the dogs out when it comes to the college football odds. Okay, bad joke, but we are liking some of the underdogs not just to cover the spread but to have a chance to pull off the outright upset.

There are a few ways you can bet on these games. One would be to take the dog to cover the spread and another ticket on the moneyline. This covers you a bit in case the team comes up short, but it also allows you to cash twice if the underdog lands the upset.
You may decide to just go all in on the moneyline, which is totally fine. Keep in mind that this is Week 1 so setting a reasonable budget for the opening weekend will allow you to have staying power.

1. USC (+155) has a Chance to Knock Off LSU
One week before the NFL kicks off, we get bonus Sunday night football as LSU takes on USC from Las Vegas. The Tigers are 4.5-point favorites versus the Trojans in the NCAAF odds for this rare Sunday college football matchup.
Following years of generating hype after hiring Lincoln Riley, everyone seems to be fading at USC. I think we’ve gone a bit too far.
New USC quarterback Miller Moss shined in the Holiday Bowl throwing a bowl-record six touchdown passes. There’s plenty to like once again when it comes to the Trojans offense.

Stop me if you have heard this before: The question for USC is on defense. The Trojans stole from the enemy this offseason by plucking new defensive coordinator D’Anton Lynn away from UCLA. Riley also added former North Dakota State head coach Matt Entz to the defensive staff.
LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier has generated a lot of buzz this offseason, but I have questions. The Tigers offense could take a step back without Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels. All this makes USC the upset pick when you bet online.
2. West Virginia (+250) Get Chance for Revenge vs Penn State
West Virginia is an 8.5-point dog versus Penn State in Week 1. This is exactly how the 2023 season started out and the Nittany Lions boat raced the Mountaineers.
There are two main differences in the rematch that have me backing West Virginia. The biggest advantage is this matchup is in Morgantown, not Happy Valley.
This is also not the same West Virginia squad that lined up against Penn State to start the 2023 season. Garrett Greene has finally found his footing to emerge as one of the best quarterbacks in the Big 12. The Mountaineers’ high-powered offense leans heavily on a dynamic running back duo of CJ Donaldson and Jahiem White.
#WVU QB Garrett Greene came on strong as the season progressed last season. He’s a true dual threat on the field and looks to turn some heads in 2024. He’s a playmaker the will keep the #Mountaineers in #BigXII Championship talks this season. #WVUvsPSU pic.twitter.com/2OE4iq0S2p

As for Penn State, can quarterback Drew Allar finally make Penn State a contender? Like Nussmeier, I am a bit skeptical. WVU has a strong chance to pull off the upset at the BetUS sportsbook.
Bet on West Virginia to Win at +250
3. Notre Dame (+129) a Threat to Silence Texas A&M at Kyle Field
Another offseason means one more summer of hearing how Texas A&M is a sleeper to win the SEC. While I like the hiring of new head coach Mike Elko, it could take some time in College Station for the Aggies to become an SEC contender.
The college football lines have Texas A&M as 3-point favorites versus Notre Dame in Week 1. The Irish added Elko’s old quarterback at Duke in Riley Leonard. Prior to sustaining a season-ending ankle injury, Leonard was one of the best quarterbacks in the country.

Leonard upgraded his weapons in the move from Duke to Notre Dame. The Irish also added former Clemson receiver Beaux Collins in the transfer portal.
Notre Dame can not only cover the spread but win this game outright. Bet the Irish in the NCAAF odds.
Bet on Notre Dame to Win the Game at +129
