College Football Games Saturday: Bet Washington Over USC

Washington is a 3½-point favorite over USC in one of the marquee college football matchups of Week 10. The over-under is set at 76½ points, the highest total of any FBS matchup on this week’s slate of games. Let’s break down this Pac-12 matchup with my NCAAF predictions.

Washington survived against Stanford to come away with a 42-33 victory in Week 9. The Huskies were up by just two points heading into the fourth quarter.

Wake me up when October ends, said USC, probably. The Trojans are likely thankful the month is over, as the team struggled throughout October. USC survived with a 50-49 win over Cal in Week 9.

The Trojans were trailing going into the fourth quarter but were able to escape with a win. USC ended a two-game losing skid after defeats to Utah and Notre Dame in previous weeks.

Here are my college football picks for the Washington-USC clash.

How Good Is Washington?

After a statement win against Oregon, Washington has struggled to keep the momentum going but remains undefeated. The Huskies survived with a 15-7 win over Arizona State in Week 8. We already discussed their narrow win over Stanford.

Neither USC nor Washington enters this matchup playing their best football, but there is still plenty to like about both offenses.

Heisman frontrunner Michael Penix Jr. threw for 369 yards, four touchdowns, and an interception against the Cardinal in Week 9. A struggling Trojans defense will have its hands full finding a way to slow down the Huskies receivers led by Ja’Lynn Polk and Rome Odunze.

Will Caleb Williams Be Enough Against Washington?

USC may not have the 1985 Bears defense, but they do have the reigning Heisman winner in star quarterback Caleb Williams. Washington’s defense has struggled to find consistency as well, meaning Williams could have plenty of success in this matchup.

The challenge with assessing the Trojans’ chances in this contest is USC has struggled with the top teams on their schedule, making this one of the more challenging sports bets of the weekend. USC’s best wins came against Arizona and Colorado. The Trojans lost to both Utah and Notre Dame.

Washington-USC Prediction: Huskies Remain Undefeated With Win in LA

It is hard to have confidence in either team’s defense, but I expect a tighter game given the stakes of the matchup. This makes taking the under on this massive point total the play in our NCAA football odds.

Overall, I have more confidence in Washington’s offense led by Penix in this matchup. I don’t see USC’s defense being able to have an answer in slowing down this unit.

Washington can overcome a solid outing from Williams to remain undefeated and cover the spread.
