Week 1 of the college football season saw SEC schools Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Missouri, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas win by at least 50 points. Georgia looked every bit the part of the nation’s top-ranked team against Clemson, Florida and Texas A&M lost at home while Vanderbilt won at home as a double-digit underdog against Virginia Tech. What is in store for Week 2?

Those who bet online will be sure to tune in as Texas hits the road to face the reigning national champion Michigan Wolverines. There is also a compelling matchup between Tennessee and North Carolina State in Charlotte while the only clash between SEC teams comes between South Carolina and Kentucky.

The SEC will not be saving the best for last as the noon matchup between Texas and Michigan will be must-see television. The college football odds list Texas as a 7½-point favorite.

No visiting team other than Ohio State has been favored by as many points in the Big House dating back to 1995.

Nine of the top 18 teams in the odds of winning the NCAAF championship hail from the SEC. Eight of the top 20 teams in both the Associated Press and American Football Coaches Association polls are from the SEC.

Let’s take a look at some of the bets to consider as 12 SEC teams will be playing at home in Week 2.

Top 3 SEC Bets for Week 2

1. Texas vs Michigan Game to Go Over 42.5 Points

After scoring on just one of its first three drives in a 52-0 win over Colorado State, the Texas offense got rolling with a field goal and six touchdowns in its next seven possessions. Expect Michigan to put up more of a fight than an overmatched Colorado State team.

However, the BetUS sportsbook odds have the total at 42.5 and we’ll take that action.

Michigan’s offense was pretty underwhelming in the season-opening win over Fresno State as the Wolverines had only one scoring drive of at least 50 yards. Don’t expect the defense to provide the Michigan offense with similar field position on Saturday, but the Wolverines are going to have to open things up on offense to hang with Texas.

Bet on Michigan to go Over 42.5 Points

2. Auburn to Cover vs Cal as 13-Point Favorite

Cal managed less than 300 yards in total offense against an FCS UC Davis team. What will the Bears be able to accomplish against an Auburn team that averaged nearly 10 yards per carry and more than 16 yards per passing attempt in its season-opening win?

Let’s not overreact and view Auburn as a national contender for those gaudy stats since the Tigers were playing Alabama A&M, a team that lost by 34 points to Vanderbilt in its 2023 opener on the way to a 5-6 season.

We still like Auburn to take care of business at home as a 13-point favorite against Cal, even though last year’s game between the teams had Auburn ekeing out a four-point win.

Bet on Auburn at 13 Points

3. Prop Pick for Kentucky vs South Carolina

Let’s look at the only matchup between SEC teams.

Kentucky’s offensive numbers would have looked a little different in a season-opening win over Southern Miss if not for the game being called early due to lightning.

South Carolina showed that it has plenty of work to do after barely getting by Old Dominion in its first game despite being listed by the college football spread as a 20½-point favorite.

The last three games between South Carolina and Kentucky were decided by six, 10 and three points.

South Carolina brought back seven of its top eight tacklers from a season ago so perhaps the Gamecocks can offer some resistance on the road against Kentucky.
