There are some interesting lines for conference games this weekend, and we’re liking a few underdogs to come away with outright wins. While home-field advantage can help some teams, for others, it’s not as much of a factor, and we have three road underdogs this week for our longshot parlay.

Best 3 Underdog Moneyline Picks to Parlay in Week 5

1. North Carolina to Sink Rival Blue

North Carolina vs Duke is usually a rivalry recognized on the hardwood, but the two schools are rivals in all sports. That includes football, with the two teams squaring off for a big game in the Atlantic Coast Conference opener for both schools.

The Blue Devils are playing at home, are 4-0 and are the favorites when looking at the college football lines this week. But the Tar Heels aren’t going to go quietly against their rivals, especially when they want to make up for their first loss of the season last week, 70-50 vs James Madison.

North Carolina had looked good on the defensive side of the ball up until last week, limiting its first three opponents to a total of 47 points in picking up three victories. But the JMU Dukes dismantled the Tar Heels, putting up 611 yards of total offense and forcing five UNC turnovers.

Despite that, North Carolina did have 50 points in the game, so it’s not like the offense was quiet. Senior quarterback Jacolby Criswell was very good in his first start, throwing for 475 yards and three touchdowns, though he also had two interceptions.

Criswell started the season as the third-string quarterback for coach Mack Brown but has emerged as the starter after Max Johnson was lost for the season in the opener and backup Conner Harrell struggled to move the Tar Heels’ offense.

Duke has jumped out to a 4-0 start behind the play of sophomore quarterback Maalik Murphy, who has passed for 1,017 yards and 11 touchdowns. But, the Blue Devils’ competition hasn’t exactly been top notch, with Northwestern the only Power 4 Conference opponent so far.

This could be another high-scoring contest, but we like North Carolina (+2) to defy the college football predictions and come away with the win.

Bet on North Carolina ML (Even)

2. BYU Eyes Another Road Upset vs Baylor

BYU has been a bit overlooked this season, but the Cougars enter this week’s game with an unblemished 4-0 record and the No. 22 ranking in the latest AP poll. Despite that, host Baylor is the favorite for this Big 12 clash, even though the Bears come into this one with a 2-2 mark.

The Cougars had no trouble with Kansas State last weekend, routing the Wildcats 38-9. Kansas State had been unbeaten and ranked 13th in the country but had no answer against BYU.

“A lot of people were surprised by this. They didn’t really think we could do this,” BYU running back Sione I Moa said of the victory. “This is not a surprise to us. We know the work we put in to get to this point.

Moa rushed for a career-high 76 yards and a touchdown in the victory. The Cougars forced three turnovers and were helped by a 90-yard punt return for a score by Parker Kingston.

Baylor fell in overtime to Colorado last weekend. It is 2-0 at home this season, though those victories came against Tarleton State and Air Force, with BYU a step up in opponent. The Bears were seconds away from a road win against the Buffaloes, but a last-second, 43-yard Hail Mary touchdown forced overtime, which led to the Baylor loss.

Quarterback Sawyer Robertson had his troubles, passing for just 148 yards, though he did have  a pair of scoring tosses in the loss. He also rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown, but he’ll need to do more with his arm against the Cougars.

Still, we like BYU to stay unbeaten with another big road win, adding to our college football parlaybet.

3. Maryland Ends Indiana Unbeaten Run

Indiana has jumped out to a nice 4-0 start to the 2024 campaign, including getting a win on the road in its Big Ten opener against UCLA two weeks ago. The Hoosiers are favored at home for this week’s matchup with visiting Maryland, but we like the Terrapins to come away with the upset victory in our NCAA football picks.

The level of competition that Indiana has faced has not been good – even UCLA struggled to get even the one win it has this season. Meanwhile, Maryland has already played one Big Ten game – albeit a loss to Michigan State – and picked up a road win against a Virginia team that has won its other three contests.

Quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. already has 1,155 yards and eight touchdowns passing, and he has one of the most dangerous targets in the Big Ten in wide receiver Tai Felton. The senior has 41 catches for 604 yards (14.7 YPC) and five touchdowns, going over 110 yards receiving in every game this season.

The Hoosiers have their own solid passing attack, led by senior quarterback Kurtis Rourke, who has 1,013 passing yards and eight touchdowns, but again, those numbers have come against some lower-tier competition.

This could be an exciting slugfest through the air, and we like Maryland to have just enough to outscore the Hoosiers and improve to 4-1. Make sure you make a bet onlinethat includes the Terrapins as part of this upset parlay.

Question of the Day

What is the all-time series record between Maryland and Indiana?

The Hoosiers lead the all-time series 7-5, though the Terrapins have won the last three meetings, including a 38-33 victory in Bloomington, Ind., in 2022.
