Florida Atlantic Faces Charlotte As Struggling Offense Match Up
On Oct.27, there will be one College Football game played as Florida Atlantic (3-4, 2-1) meets Charlotte (2- 5, 1- 2). With both teams having struggled offensively last week, there is an opportunity for the best College Football bets for today.
Last week, the Owls lost to UTSA, 36-10, in a dismal game on both sides of the ball. On the other hand, the 49ers squeaked out a win over East Carolina, 10-7, doing enough to secure their first win in the American.

Florida Atlantic’s Blunder Last Week
Heading into last week’s game week game against UTSA, Florida Atlantic had won two straight conference games. The Owls narrowly beat Tulsa 20-17, then had a big game against South Florida, winning 56-14. That was supposed to set up a competitive game with UTSA, with the College Football spread being set at 2½.
Instead, Florida Atlantic’s offense fell apart, and the defense folded. Outside of an interception that was brought back for a touchdown, the Owls’ offense only scored three points and accrued 162 yards.
Passingl was nearly non-existent, with Daniel Richardson completing 19 of 34 attempts for 142 yards, and two interceptions. He had improved since taking over for Casey Thompson, who tore his ACL, but Richardson has thrown an interception in five straight games.
Running the ball was worse for the Owls. They managed 20 rushing yards on 28 attempts. This is not how Florida Atlantic wanted to play on offense a week before facing Charlotte’s defense, which is in the top 5 in points and yards allowed within the American.
On top of that, the Owls’ defense offered little resistance to give the team confidence for College Football lines. They allowed 437 yards despite forcing three turnovers.
Charlotte’s Strong Defense
All season, offense has been hard to come by for Charlotte. The 49ers have scored more than 21 points twice, and a week before beating East Carolina, they were shut out by Navy.
Even in the win over East Carolina, Charlotte’s offense did not exactly impress to change the team’s future College Football odds.
The 49ers scored 10 points but did manage 328 yards, leaning heavily on quarterback Jalon Jones to make anything happen. Jones had an excellent performance, completing 11 of 18 passes for 144 tards, but he was without a touchdown and did have an interception. He did run for 127 yards and the team’s only offensive score on 26 carries.
Based on what has happened this season, it seems unlikely that Charlotte will be able to put up big numbers against Florida Atlantic’s solid defense despite its struggles last week.
However, where the 49ers do have an advantage is on their defensive side of the ball. Last week, they held East Carolina to 127 yards, 88 passing and 39 rushing. With Florida Atlantic’s struggling offense the previous week and how well Charlotte played on defense, it should give them the upper hand.
Florida Atlantic vs Charlotte Best Bet
Neither team will be near the top in College Football rankings today, but in a way that could help make the right pick. This game could end up being low-scoring, opening the door for College Football picks to take the under for this game.
Both teams combined for 13 offensive points last week, and it doesn’t seem like anything will change. Furthermore, Charlotte is a defense that is hard to play, while Florida Atlantic’s last game does not reflect its total season’s work.
College Football Best Bet: Under 40½ -110
