- After giving Georgia a scare last week, can Florida do the same against Texas?
- Is the Longhorns’ offense ready to take on a stingy Gators defense?
- NCAAF Odds has Texas as 21 ½ point betting favorites for Saturday.
Returning from their bye week, the No. 5 Texas Longhorns are ready to return to their winning ways at home this Saturday when they welcome Billy Napier’s Florida Gators, who are heavy college football betting odds underdogs on Saturday at noon.
Understanding that another SEC loss could mean the biggest blow to its college football playoff aspirations, Texas is not about to let the Gators, who are coming off one of their better games of the season in a loss to Georgia, dent their plans.
With the stage set for another new-look SEC showdown for the Longhorns, will the home team be able to cruise to a victory or could we be in for a shocker in Austin?

Top 2 Florida vs. Texas Predictions
1. Take Gators ATS vs Texas
I’ll just go ahead and say something every single college football betting fan thought last week. If Florida quarterback DJ Lagway had finished the game against Georgia and the defense played the way it did, the Gators would have come through with one of the season’s biggest upsets in the SEC.

Remember, too, that the Georgia team the Gators had on the ropes until late in the game is the same squad that humbled Texas three weeks ago, beating the Longhorns at home 30-15. So what does that tell us heading into this Florida vs. Texas game? That even while being NCAAF odds underdogs, the Gators could give the Longhorns an actual run for it.
As long as Florida doesn’t have full assurance that Lagway will be able to play, I wouldn’t expect the Gators’ offense to run up the scoreboard. But on the defensive side of the ball, if Napier’s defense can catch Texas lagging and push the Longhorns to commit turnovers, something that Florida has been doing really well lately, this could be a much closer game than expected.
In checking Florida vs Texas stats, note that the Gators picked off Georgia three times last week, following another three-interception performance the week before against Kentucky. Texas has turned the ball over at least twice in six of their last seven matchups, including four against Georgia. These are the two main stats you should be focusing on for this game.
At 21½ points, the game’s online betting spread feels tailor-made for the Gators to cover and keep the score close, so take Florida ATS.

2. My NCAAF Predictions Magic 8 Ball Has Spoken: Bet the Under
There’s a reason the under has hit in four of Texas’ eight games this season and three times in its last four games. When faced with tough defenses, the Longhorns have been keeping a low offensive profile and trying to do as much as needed to get the job done.
It worked against Mississippi State, Oklahoma and Vanderbilt, but as we can all remember, it failed against Georgia. This weekend, even while taking the cake as overwhelming favorites in all NCAA football predictions, Florida could turn this game into another case of a low-scoring win for the home team.

Both defenses should be dominant this weekend, with Texas edging out Florida at the end, especially if Lagway doesn’t suit up. Considering the numbers both teams have been putting up in recent weeks, I stand by my second Florida vs. Texas college football betting pick here: Bet the under.
Florida vs. Texas Pick: Total Under 48 (-110)
