Group of Five Week 4 Best Bets: Boise State, Bowling Green Favorable ATS Picks

Most Group of Five teams are opening up conference play in Week 4. This could create more favorable college football lines, as fewer teams will be visiting big schools as major underdogs. The Week 4 slate has plenty of favorable bets in the Group of Five.

Week 3’s picks performed well, as I went two for three. Ohio and Iowa State got in a low-scoring battle, and Fresno State blew the doors off of Arizona State (29-0). Alabama spoiled the sweep, as it won by only 14 against South Florida. Check out some of the NCAAF best bets in the Group of Five.

Broncos Look To Open Conference Slate with Bang

Friday night features a battle between Boise State (1-2) and San Diego State (2-2). Despite a slow start, the sportsbook has the Broncos as 6½-point favorites on the road.

Boise State began the season with a tough schedule. The Broncos lost 56-19 against No. 8 Washington and 18-16 against UCF. However, BSU bounced back with a 42-18 win and cover against North Dakota in Week 3.

San Diego State began the season with an impressive 20-13 win against Ohio. Since, the Aztecs are 1-2 against the spread (ATS). Week 2’s eight-point win against Idaho State as 34-point favorites remains a very concerning performance.

The Broncos should also have an advantage in the run game. They are averaging 4.6 yards per carry (43rd), and San Diego State allows 5.3 yards per carry (114th).

Falcons Could Erase Bobcats’ Passing Game

Ohio was one of the big winners of Week 3. The Bobcats took down Iowa State 10-7. The offense had only 247 yards, but the defense was opportunistic with two takeaways.

Following the win, Ohio (3-1) visits Bowling Green (1-2), which is one of the bottom teams in the Mid-American Conference. The Bobcats remain one of the college football betting favorites to win the MAC.

Ohio has great momentum going into MAC play, but the Falcons could be a sneaky underdog pick. They come off an impressive showing against No. 2 Michigan. Bowling Green lost 31-6. How is that impressive?

The Falcons were 41-point underdogs. A 25-point loss is a major win. Plus, the defense shined by reeling in three interceptions and holding the Wolverines to 143 passing yards. With the secondary thriving, back Bowling Green in NCAA game predictions.

The Bobcats rely on their passing game, led by quarterback Kurtis Rourke. Ohio could be in store for another low-scoring game.

UTSA Visits Rocky Top

UTSA (1-2) is in one of the most notable Group of Five games in Week 4, as the Roadrunners visit No. 23 Tennessee (2-1). The Volunteers fell flat in Week 3 with a 29-16 loss against Florida. Tennessee was a 4½-point favorite. Could UTSA take advantage of the Volunteers’ struggles?

The Roadrunners have disappointed, going 0-3 ATS. UTSA could be in store for another tough week. After a confusing game plan in Week 3, Tennessee will be looking to tweak its offense. The Roadrunners’ struggling defense is the perfect tune-up for the Volunteers.

UTSA surrendered 254 rushing yards in its 37-29 loss against Army. When Tennessee gets the run game going, the passing game usually hits deep shot after deep shot. Quarterback Joe Milton III was able to hit some explosive plays last week. One was a 55-yard strike to Bru McCoy.

The Roadrunners’ quarterback Frank Harris is also questionable for Week 4. Las Vegas college football odds have Tennessee as 21-point favorites. The Volunteers could easily cover, especially if Harris does not play.
