High-Powered Ole Miss to Cover vs Arkansas

This week could be a crucial game for Arkansas and No.16 Ole Miss in SEC play, playing a role in College Football predictions. The Razorbacks have lost their first two conference games, while the Rebels are coming off a big win from last week.

Last week, Arkansas lost its third straight game, falling to Texas A&M 34-22 behind a horrid offensive performance. Ole Miss had an incredible offensive explosion, rallying to beat LSU 55-49 and getting back on track after a disappointing loss in the prior week.

Offensive Shortcomings Plague Arkansas

The lack of offense last week for Arkansas is a concern, given that Ole Miss scored 55 points. The Razorbacks’ offense did not score a touchdown until their final drive of the game, pretty much being shut down the whole second half, relying on turnovers and field goals. Due to the bad offensive performance college football lines are favoring Ole Miss.

will not be facing nearly the same level of defense that they did last week. Texas A&M is one of the top defenses in the country, finishing with seven sacks and 15 tackles for a loss. Ole Miss’s defense is not nearly close to that same level, allowing 637 yards last week. That could lead to some inflated college football spreads.

On top of that, it was the first game back for crucial running back Raheim Sanders after missing three straight weeks with an injury. He played like he was getting back into the swing of things with 11 rushes for 34 yards, but with another week to get ready, Sanders should be ready to face Ole Miss. Plus, Ole Miss’s run defense is not at the same level as Texas A&M’s, allowing the third-most rushing yards per game in the SEC at 145.

If the running game and Sanders can find some success, that should open the door for quarterback KJ Jefferson to get something going. He has struggled recently, throwing an interception in the last three losses, but with the running game potentially getting on track, that could take some pressure off Jefferson.

Ole Miss: High-Flying Offense

LSU was hardly the defense set up to stop Ole Miss, but the Rebels’ offense was still incredible. It was good enough for college football odds to make the Rebels two-score favorites against the Razorbacks.

Everything was clicking for Ole Miss’s offense last week, from the running to the passing game, combining for 706 yards of total offense. Jaxson Dart went off, throwing for 389 yards, four touchdowns, no interceptions and running in a score. He found wide receiver Tre Harris for eight receptions, 153 yards and one touchdown. Jordan Watkins also had a big game, with five receptions, 103 yards and a score.

While the passing game was electric, running back Quinshon Judkins’ was the real needle mover, shifting NCAA football odds. He ran for 177 yards and a touchdown on 33 carries, being a reliable option in the running game to open up easy completions downfield for Dart.

Arkansas did not contain Texas A&M’s offense, giving up 414 yards to a team with its backup quarterback starting. The Razorbacks allowed 204 rushing yards (5.2 per carry), something the Rebels will look to exploit.

Arkansas vs Ole Miss Best Bet

The over in this game is definitely in play for college football picks. Neither team has the defense that can confidently stop the other’s offense. However, given what the Arkansas offense did last week, relying on the Razorbacks to score a bunch of points is a hard bet to make.

On the other hand, Ole Miss has an offense that can be trusted and should be in for another big game. The Rebels’ defense needs to stand its ground while the offense plays clean football, and they should be able to cover the spread.
