Indiana Hoosiers

So, nothing has come easy for the Hoosiers. In Week 1, they inched by Illinois, 23-20). A week later, Indiana was down, 10-0, at halftime against Idaho. The Hoosiers fought back in a 35-22 win. Then, last week, Indiana was a 33-30 overtime winner against Western Kentucky.

The Hoosiers have shown toughness, sitting at 3-0. Cincinnati will be a much more difficult challenge. with Indiana earning real respect should it win.

Connor Bazelak needs to continue his solid play at quarterback. He hasn’t been perfect, but Bazelak has played well when it mattered. He has 891 passing yards (five touchdowns) this season. Indiana might find success on the ground as well, with Cincy ranking 69th in rushing yards allowed per game (145.5).

The passing defense has to improve. The Hoosiers rank 103rd in allowed passing yards per game (280.5), while the Bearcats are 12th in passing yards per game at 333.

Cincinnati Bearcats

Quarterback Ben Bryant had a rough start against Arkansas. Since then, Bryant has been better. Bryant last week had his best effort of the season, 337 yards while completing 74.3% of his passes.

Wide receivers Tyler Scott and Tre Tucker each had over 100 yards. Running back Charles McClelland added 101 yards (two touchdowns) as the Bearcat offense is doing its job.

Despite losing a lot of frontliners in the offseason, the Bearcats’ defense is holding its own. It was a rough opener as Arkansas amassed over 400 yards, but some early-season struggles were unavoidable with new contributors. However, last week, Miami (Oh.) totaled just 183 yards, averaging only 1.9 yards per carry.

NCAAF odds have the Bearcats as favorites to win the AAC (+185). With another complete performance, Cincinnati can further separate itself as the American Athletic Conference’s best.
