Can Cyclones Cool Frogs?
There’s a big difference in the quality of TCU and Iowa St., though not when looking at the sportsbook odds.
TCU, despite being 11-0 and looking to be a College Football Playoff contender, is “only” favored by 10 points against 4-7 Iowa St., which is somewhat surprising.
Bettors may find themselves locking in a value line for Saturday’s Big 12 contest.
Let’s check the latest college football odds, stats, injury reports and college football lines for Iowa St. vs TCU. We’ve plenty of NCAA football odds for you to consider.
It’s Not Cyclone Season
A dismal season in Ames, where the Iowa St. Cyclones are just 4-7, 1-7 in the Big 12.
ISU did beat West Virginia three weeks ago, then lost to both Oklahoma St. and Texas Tech.
The Cyclones are 4-6-1 against the spread (ATS). Bettors haven’t had an enjoyable time with them, and that’s why we’re surprised by Las Vegas lines. We’d have put the Cyclones at least two-touchdown underdogs, so the +10 seems a bit light.
Visiting one of the best teams in the country, and although they won the last game against TCU, this is a completely different situation. TCU has improved exponentially, while Iowa St. has regressed substantially. A terrible spot to back Iowa St., so tread cautiously if you fancy a Cyclone tearing through Texas.
Hopping on Horned Frogs
Despite failing to cover the spread when beating Baylor, 29-28, last week (last-second field goals as -1½ favorites), bettors have loved investing in TCU.
It is 8-2-1 ATS, one of the best records in all of college football. The Horned Frogs have been printing money to their backers. We don’t think it’s going to slow down anytime soon.
Against the Bears, they had every right to succumb last Saturday, so against a rather poor Iowa St. outfit, this may turn into a walk in the park.
“The great thing about that last drive, we were throwing all of our day one concepts,” quarterback Max Duggan said. “We were throwing easy stuff that we practice and we can do with our eyes closed, and stuff that you believe in. … So just going out there, being confident, believing it was going to happen, and Griff makes a huge kick for us.”
NCAAF odds have a generous line and it’s hard to ignore.
