Kansas will play Iowa State at home to keep its undefeated season going. It is a surprise that Kansas is in this position after winning two games last season. Most of the credit goes to the team’s offense.
The Cyclones (3-1, 0-1 Big 12) opened conference play suffering their first loss of the season at the hands of No.16 Baylor 31-24. The Jayhawks (4-0) are coming off a fantastic offensive performance against Duke, beating the Blue Devils 35-27 at home in their final non-conference game.
Let’s check the latest NCAAF odds, stats, injury reports, and NCAAF lines for Iowa State vs Kansas. We’ve plenty of Vegas NCAAF odds for you to consider..
Lowa State Should Not Change Much
Against a formidable opponent in Baylor, Iowa State seemingly held its own despite the loss. The score was just 17-14 at halftime, but two second-half interceptions – one on the opening drive – were the deciding factors.
Outside the two interceptions, quarterback Hunter Dekkers played okay, throwing for 284 yards, and two touchdowns. The Cyclones’ offensive line struggled, allowing four sacks and just 2.4 yards per carry on the ground.
From the outside looking in, it seems like the Cyclones’’ defense struggled, but it wasn’t all bad. Even while giving up 361 yards, the run defense was strong, allowing just 2.9 yards per carry. The Bears’ offense was also on the field nearly 10 minutes more than the Cyclones.
Iowa State put up a fight in the game’s closing minutes, scoring 10 points unanswered in the fourth. It attempted an onside kick but did not recover it.
Kansas Might be Legit
Recency bias may be creeping in, but Kansas has looked great through its first four games. Kansas Jayhawks have been creeping into AP Top 25 consideration, and a win this week would make it hard to keep them out.
A large part of the Jayhawks’ success is because of how good quarterback Jalon Daniels and the run game has been. Daniels and running backs Devin Neal and Daniel Hishaw Jr. have combined for 111 carries, 818 yards and 12 touchdowns for arguably the most dynamic rushing attack in all of college football.
Still, last week, Daniels took a massive step in a different direction by having his best passing game of the season. He threw for 324 yards and four touchdowns on just 23 attempts against Duke. If that balance can keep going, the offense will only get tougher to stop.
The Jayhawks’ defense hasn’t looked good, allowing 402.5 yards per game, and they are unproven outside of an overtime win over West Virginia. However, this offense keeps proving it is legit.

Lowa State vs Kansas Prediction
The strengths of both teams will be the deciding factor in this game. Kansas averages the eighth-most rushing yards per game while Iowa State allows the seventh fewest. Whoever’s strength of their team steps up, will likely win the game.
Daniels has been so good it is hard to not think the Jayhawks will put points on the board, which may lead to a shootout because of their own bad defense. The Cyclones lack the experience and offense for a shootout, which leans in the Jayhawks’ favor.
