We don’t see the Hawkeyes doing enough to win the game outright, so their best hope is to keep the game close.

It has been a mixed year, scoring wins over Illinois State, Troy and Minnesota. However, they lost 20-19 to Iowa State in the rivalry game. That was only a one-point loss, but Ohio State is a much better team than Iowa State, so ground is needing to be made up.

However, as we’ve seen with lower-ranked teams, they often get blown off the field early, and it’s almost impossible to recover and make a game of it late. That’s our biggest concern for the visitors, who don’t have a quick offensive threat, with quarterback Cade McNamara boasting only 588 passing yards.

He has three touchdowns and two interceptions, and although running back Kaleb Johnson has been productive with nine touchdowns, he might not be enough.

With a college football playoff spot the ultimate goal for this team, we can’t see them slipping up against a much lower-ranked opponent, so bettors should be confident.

Jeremiah Smith has 19 receptions for 364 yards and five touchdowns. The future NFL draft pick has backing from his coach.

“Sometimes you look at him, you don’t even think he’s quite human,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said. “He’s built different.”
