James Madison Dukes
The Dukes have looked beatable this year, but it just hasn’t happened. They are continuing to find new ways to win football games and it has worked out well. Quarterback Cole Johnson has led their strong offense with 452 passing yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Their rushing attack is really where they make their money, though, as the team averages a whopping 265.3 yards per contest against their opponents. This opens the door for their passing attack as teams will be so focused on the power and agility of their running backs, specifically Percy Agyei-Obese, he has run for 303 yards and four touchdowns this season.
Flipping over to the defensive end, they only allow 11 points and 163.7 yards per game, those numbers are just dominant. They can rely so heavily upon that unit that their offense can even afford to make some mistakes and they can still win. Mike Green has picked up two sacks while Wayne Davis had snagged an interception, both of those lead the team in their respective categories. The Dukes just have to continue what they have been doing, generate a strong rushing attack, and locking down defensively in order to pick up a win here.
William & Mary Tribe
The Tribe has definitely struggled to get themselves over the .500 hump but are hoping to change that luck in this matchup. Hollis Mathis is the quarterback of this crew, throwing for 379 yards and two touchdowns while also not throwing an interception. Their ground game is a nice complement to that with 157 yards per game, with Malachi Imoh totaling 148 yards and three touchdowns of the year. They are solid in both the run game and the passing game which makes it difficult to defend against them. The Tribe also doesn’t turn the ball over consistently and they will need to continue that to avoid beating themselves.
As for their defense, they have been pretty strong, allowing 15.5 points and 253 yards per game. They aren’t as talented as the Duke’s defense, but they are more than capable of getting the job done and locking up their opponents. The Tribe doesn’t get to the quarterback that often, as nobody on the team has more than one sack. They will need to get some pressure on Johnson in the passing game while also dominating the line of scrimmage to avoid letting the Dukes get into their rhythm on the ground. If they do it will be a long game for the William & Mary squad.
