Kent State Golden Flashes
Kent State is outmatched from top to bottom, period. They are returning just four starters from the team that went 7-7 last season, including trounced in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl by Wyoming. This team enters a “challenging” game without much experience as a unit.
Among the significant holdovers from 2021 are running back Marquez Cooper and wide receiver Dante Cephas. Cooper had 1,205 (11 touchdowns) in ’21, while Cephas had 82 receptions (1,240 yards, nine touchdowns).
Defensively, the squad was decent last season, so few notable players returning, though. If Washington totaled 525 yards and 45 points against Kent State, this one against the Sooners could get ugly sooner rather than later.
Oklahoma Sooners
Oklahoma was a titan last season, 11-2 with a (47-32) win over Oregon 47-32 in the Holiday Bowl. Lincoln Riley bolted to Los Angeles and USC, and Brent Venables is now the coach. The team has five returnees on both offense and defense.
It’s so far, so good in Soonerland. Opening the season with a crushing 45-13 victory (and covering the 31-point spread) against UTEP, quarterback Dillon Gabriel was effective *15-for-23, 233 yards, two touchdowns)(. Defensively, the Miners were stuffed (31 carries, 28 yards). Kent State seems to have an offense. It will be interesting to see if Oklahoma can again manhandle the opposition ground game.
Kent State vs Oklahoma Injury Report
Kent State reports no injuries, while Oklahoma TE Daniel Parker Jr. (undisclosed illness) is probable.

Kent State vs Oklahoma Prediction
Sometimes, these ginormous spreads can be tough to predict. It’s about how committed a team (Oklahoma) is to win by these sorts of numbers. What’s the motivation?
Expect a big win for Oklahoma, but we respect Kent State’s offense. They have some players to hang with Oklahoma for a while, keeping this somewhat competitive.
