Kentucky is favored on the road over Mississippi State in the Week 10 matchup. The over-under is set at 45½ points. These might not be among the best college football teams, but the SEC game still offers plenty of intrigue.

Kentucky was unable to pull off an upset against Tennessee, losing the Week 9 contest 33-27. The Wildcats now have lost three straight games, but all to opponents in the college football rankings today.

Kentucky Not a Contender But Still Solid

The College Football Playoff has tended to skew our opinions of teams making those outside the top six or seven irrelevant. This is likely to change when the playoff expands to 12 teams in 2024, keeping more teams in the mix.

Kentucky is not a championship caliber program, but there is still plenty to like about the Wildcats. After starting the season 5-0, Kentucky has dropped their last three games. The Wildcats have been at the mercy of a brutal recent schedule, facing ranked teams in their last three matchups.

Transfer quarterback Devin Leary has had mixed results since arriving in Lexington but may finally be finding his footing. Leary posted 372 passing yards and two touchdowns against the Vols in Week 9.

As for Mississippi State, things haven’t quite been the same without the late Mike Leach. The Bulldogs offense has not been the unit we saw during Leach’s tenure. Mississippi State has only topped 20 points once in their last four games. This has made betting the Bulldogs a challenge this season in the Las Vegas odds.
