Something Has to Give
The Liberty Flames try to extend their five-game winning streak, visiting the Arkansas Razorbacks for a non-conference contest Saturday afternoon. Liberty blew out BYU last week at home, having lost just once this season. Arkansas has won two straight-including a 52-35 rout of that same BYU squad the last month and is currently tied for third place in the SEC West Division. Liberty’s Defense Leading Way
The Liberty Flames fell behind, 14-3, to the BYU Cougars last out, perhaps the team’s second loss of the season. However, the Flames rolled the final 38 points over the last three quarters. Liberty limited BYU to 258 yards of offense on the way to the rout.
BYU had just 71 yards rushing, highlighting a portion of the defense that’s been a staple this season. Liberty’s opponents average just 123.3 yards per game, while its defense has surrendered just 21½ points per outing.
Offensively, the Flames enjoy running the ball, especially sophomore Dae Dae Hunter. Hunter had 213 yards (one touchdown) last week and 821 yards (eight touchdowns) on the season.
Junior quarterback Johnathan Bennett has become comfortable throwing the ball, more than 200 yards in each of the last two games. Bennett was 24-of-29 (247 yards, two touchdowns) against BYU, 939 yards (eight touchdowns) this season.
Arkansas Off Big SEC Win
Maybe not a big deal to beat a team that had lost three games in a row, but not the case with the Arkansas Razorbacks defeating the home-standing Auburn Tigers last out, Arkansas was able to get out of the basement in the SEC West, building off the momentum of that aforementioned victory against BYU.
“To come in here (and win) means everything,” Pittman said after Saturday’s win. “It means a lot. Now we’ve beaten every West team since I’ve been here except ‘Bama.“
Junior KJ Jefferson had 234 yards (one touchdown), adding 45 yards rushing (two touchdowns). He has 1,697 passing yards (15 touchdowns) in 2022, adding 389 yards (six rush touchdowns).
Sophomore Raheem Sanders went over the 1,000-yard plateau with 171 yards in the win over Auburn, his second straight game exceeding 170 yards. Sanders has now 1,041 rushing yards (seven touchdowns), adding 16 receptions (195 yards) and a touchdown.

Liberty vs Arkansas Prediction
The Liberty Flames have played well this season, but their one loss came when they climbed the competition ladder against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Playing an SEC team on the road, one with two straight wins like the Arkansas Razorbacks proves to be too much. However, the Flames should at least keep it close
When doing your college football betting, expect the Razorbacks to win, but Liberty to cover.
