LSU Eyeing First SEC Title Since 2017
It might be surprising to learn that Louisiana State has won the SEC Championship Game more recently than Georgia has.
LSU won everything – the SEC, national title, and Heisman Trophy to quarterback Joe Burrow during a magical 2019 season.
While Georgia was winning the national title in 2021, the one blemish came to Alabama in the SEC championship.
It is hard to foresee a scenario where Georgia will be left out of the College Football Playoff field regardless of the outcome this week. LSU’s national title hopes ended with a loss to unranked Texas A&M in the regular-season finale.
Georgia led the SEC in total defense for the second year in a row, even with five defensive players selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft and defensive coordinator Dan Lanning taking the head coaching job at Oregon.
Georgia remains first in both the Associated Press and American Football Coaches Association polls with the Bulldogs picking up 118 of 126 first-place votes. LSU fell to 11th in the AP poll and 13th in the AFCA rankings.

He provided a peek of what was coming when he had five TD passes and no interceptions in the two playoff games last season.
Sophomores Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey are his favorite receivers while running back Kenny McIntosh contributes as a runner and a receiver.
