1. Gophers Offer Value

The Golden Gophers have been impressive recently, including a narrow defeat to Michigan. They lost 27-24 to the Wolverines before scoring an upset win over USC 24-17 last week.

NCAAF odds haven’t underrated them this time around at -5, and it’s a fair line considering how well they are playing. They are using a power game to beat their opponents and running back Darius Taylor has been dominant.

Taylor has 73 carries for 402 yards and five touchdowns, so expect much of the offense to run through him. He had 144 yards rushing against USC, and he helped Minnesota score 14 points in the final quarter to complete the comeback.

Quarterback Max Brosmer was also good and he scored the go-ahead touchdown with 56 seconds left.

“It was just the best way to finish,” Brosmer said. “To have all your boys around you at that moment when you’re literally face to face and you’re screaming at each other, ‘Yeah! Let’s go!’ when no one else can see it, it’s pretty cool.”

2. Something Brewing for Bruins?

The first season in the Big Ten is getting out of hand for the Bruins, who need to start winning games, especially after starting 0-3 in conference play.

They haven’t had the easiest strength of schedule, and playing the likes of top-five opponents Oregon and Penn State was never going to end well. To their credit, they limited the Nittany Lions to just 27 points last week, but that’s us trying to find a positive.

We have been disappointed with QB Ethan Garbers, who has double the number of interceptions than touchdowns. He hasn’t featured with NCAAF prop picks, and we don’t see that changing against Minnesota if he suits up.

UCLA needs a good quarterback to win games, and Garbers has been exposed so far in 2024. However, there is always time for change and being the +5 underdogs at home could spur this team on.

Our biggest worry is their horrendous 42-13 loss to Indiana. That loss came at home following a 16-13 road win over Hawaii, and it appears as though the Bruins just aren’t a very good team. That makes them awfully tough to back with confidence on Saturday.

3. Minnesota to Run UCLA into the Ground

We expect Minnesota to use its superior running game to pound UCLA and score a comfortable road win at Rose Bowl.

Our expert betting picks have the Golden Gophers scoring a decent total as well, which adds weight to backing over 40 points. It’s a low total, which is partly due to UCLA’s offensive struggles.

However, if Minnesota can score around 24 points, it should be enough to see them cover the college football spread and the over to cash. Minnesota has scored 24 points in its last two games, and it scored 27 and 48 points earlier in the year.
