Undefeated…After One
The Mississippi State Bulldogs and Arizona Wildcats were impressive in their openers, but only one team remains perfect after Saturday, however.
Most early betting online came for the Bulldogs as -10½ road favorites. It’s an intriguing game that could be high scoring as well.

Offense-Minded Bulldogs
MSU surrendered 23 points to Memphis last week, but the offense stood out in the 49-23 win over Memphis.
Quarterback Will Rogers apparently never met a completion he didn’t like, as in 38-of-49 (five touchdowns, one interception). Rogers and the Bulldogs are a pass-first offense, firing away against Arizona’s stingy pass defense.
Arizona surrendered only 62 yards through the air last week, so the Bulldogs might not be able to use their best weapon to the same effect.
The NCAAF odds have the Bulldogs as skinny -370 favorites to win the game outright. A short quote, but they have higher expectations, and bettors believe Arizona won’t prevail.
Surprise to Start
It was hard not to be impressed with the Wildcats’ 38-20 win over San Diego State last week. They were six-point underdogs, so they covered by 24 (do the math).
Surprising two weeks running isn’t easy, especially when the opponent is Mississippi State.
The Wildcats need to show the same resolve of defense. They limited San Diego State, holding the passing game to just 66 yards. They need to pressure Rogers.
They will require offense of their own, so quarterback Jayden de Laura might have to improve. He had a good outing last week, but not quite as explosive as his counterpart.
Bulldogs’ coach Mike Leach is giving the Wildcats credit for their improvement.
“They’re much improved,” Leach told Yahoo.com. “Quarterback is the key position for them. They have some skilled guys that can hurt you. They’re big on the offensive line and the defensive line.
“They’ve had some key transfers that I think help them out. It’s a little unpredictable what they’re going to do because their defensive staff hasn’t been together before.”
Bettors are +10½ points if they’re tempted by his home ‘dog.
