Picking who is going to win a college football game is difficult, so sometimes the easier way to go is picking the over/under for the game’s point total. We’re back again this week in an effort to pick three games that will go under the set point total on BetUS Sportsbook.
Conference play is heating up, so the pressure on teams to perform is also going up. That can lead to mistakes, and fewer points, which is good for us on these bets.

3 Unders You Should Bet in Week 4
1. Iowa Defense Shuts Down Minnesota
One of the surprising bits of college football news this season has been the Iowa Hawkeyes scoring 38 points in two different games. Considering Iowa averaged just 15.4 points a season ago, this season’s average of 32.3 points seems too good to be true.
Well, it is. Forty of Iowa’s points this season came against FCS school Illinois State, and in the Hawkeyes’ biggest game of the season, against Iowa State in Week 2, they managed just 19 points, racking up a whopping 23 yards on their final six drives combined.
Now they begin Big Ten play against a Minnesota Golden Gophers squad that has allowed a total of 19 points on the season. Again, Minnesota’s competition for its two shutout wins hasn’t exactly been Big Ten-caliber, but suffice it to say, these two teams aren’t going to be lighting up the scoreboard in this one.
The total is set at 35½ points and we anticipate these teams finishing below that mark. Iowa has been able to rack up yardage – 462 yards of total offense last week against Troy – but has struggled down near the goal line to punch it in.
“We put up a lot of yards in the first half,” Iowa quarterback Cade McNamara said after last week’s win. “The scoreboard just didn’t reflect it. I think our ability to respond is a good sign.”
Minnesota quarterback Max Brosmer, a transfer from New Hampshire, will be getting his first taste of Big Ten play in this one. He has 627 passing yards this season, though his lowest performance was against North Carolina in the season-opening loss at home.
This will be a good competitive game. We just don’t see it beating the college football lines and going over.

2. Iowa State Victory Over Arkansas State Won’t Be Easy
The other school that participates in the annual Cy-Hawk Rivalry, the Iowa State Cyclones, take on a surprisingly solid Arkansas State Red Wolves squad that made things tough on Michigan just last weekend. ASU lost by just 10 points against the defending national champions, leading to a quarterback switch for the Wolverines.
Now Arkansas State tries to do a little better against the Iowa St Cyclones, who haven’t played since their come-from-behind win over Iowa two weeks ago. Iowa State has not been a consistent offensive team, averaging 20.5 points in its two games.
Despite that, the total for this game has been set at 51½ points. This should be another of your under picks for our college football parlay.
Quarterback Rocco Becht has thrown for two touchdowns in each of the Cyclones’ games, though he has just 539 yards through the air. He has just one interception in his 61 pass attempts, but he has to be careful against Arkansas State, which picked off Michigan’s Davis Warren three times last week.

The Red Wolves scored 18 points on the Wolverines, but that was certainly helped by the turnovers. Arkansas State won’t be putting up a lot of points on the Cyclones, so it will need to rely on its defense to keep it in this one.
That defense will do its job, as will Iowa State’s, as these two teams fail to score 51 points on Saturday.

3. Low-Scoring Big 12 Showdown for Utah vs Oklahoma State
A battle between two ranked and unbeaten Big 12 schools features the conference debut of the Utah Utes. The Utes’ first task is to take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys, who have been putting up points in bunches this season.
As is the story in many of these matchups, however, is that the scoring prowess of Power 4 schools in non-conference games isn’t quite the same when they face conference foes. And that will be the story of this game as well.
Oklahoma State is averaging 42.6 points while Utah is averaging 36.6 points. Yet the total for this game is set at just 54 points. Clearly, something’s going to give, and in our estimation, it will be both teams’ offensive outputs.
Senior quarterback Cam Rising leads the Utah offense, passing for 346 yards and seven touchdowns this season. But, those numbers are only from one-plus games, as he’s been dealing with a finger injury that kept him out of last week’s win over Utah State. The hope is he’ll be ready for the Cowboys, but it was still uncertain this week.
“That’s all you ever dreamed of as a kid is just playing in big-time football games,” Rising said. “And this is a great Oklahoma State team, so just chomping at the bit to get out there and get this thing going finally.”
Cowboys quarterback Alan Bowman is in his seventh season of college football, and he’s making the most of it, passing for 967 yards and eight touchdowns. Those numbers have been against less-than-stellar competition, however, and he won’t have it as easy against a tough Utah defense.
This is a can’t-miss game for any college football fan, but it won’t have the scoring some expect. Make sure your parlay includes the under as one of your college football picks and you’ll be happy when this one is over.
