We love to look at the college football lines and see which games on each week’s schedule are getting too high on their projected point totals. We have three games that we’ve singled out this week for which we think you should definitely be betting the under.
Week 7 has a number of big matchups, but these games matter too, especially to a bettor. So read on and put together some bets that have you cheering on the defenses in these contests.
Top 3 Unders You Should Bet in Week 7
1. Syracuse Battles NC State In A Low-Scoring Affair
It hasn’t been the season that the North Carolina State Wolfpack were planning on. The college football predictions for 2024 were very good for NC State, but the Wolfpack are 3-3 overall and 0-2 in ACC play heading into this weekend.
Part of the trouble has been injuries to starting quarterback Grayson McCall, who made college football news when he took a vicious hit in last week’s loss to Wake Forest.

McCall was carted off the field and his status for the rest of this season is up in the air. The senior had also been injured in a Sept. 14 game with Louisiana Tech. Last weekend’s game marked his return to action.
Freshman CJ Bailey has gotten the call each time McCall has gone down. Bailey has thrown for 741 yards and four touchdowns, but he’s also been picked off three times. He’s likely the starter the rest of the way, so he needs to learn to avoid the mistakes that have led to turnovers.
Syracuse is 4-1 behind the play of Ohio State quarterback transfer Kyle McCord. The senior has 1,814 yards and 17 touchdowns in the passing game, so he can help the Orange put points on the board.
The total for this game is set at 54 ½ points, which seems a bit high considering the Wolfpack’s offensive problems. We like the Syracuse Orange to win this one easily, but not with a combined score that high.

2. Iowa Continues to Shine on Defense vs Washington
It seems like the Iowa Hawkeyes are a staple of our unders column each week, but when you have an outstanding defense and little to no offense, that will happen. Iowa even kept Ohio State somewhat in check for much of last week’s game, holding the potent Buckeyes to just seven first-half points before eventually falling 35-7.
That 42-point total is just what this week’s game with the Washington Huskies is set at, and we think it’s too high for our NCAA football picks.
Iowa does have three games over 30 points this season, which is amazing considering how much the Hawkeyes struggle at times offensively. But it’s the defensive side of the ball that makes us believe this game is going lower.
The Hawkeyes are holding opponents to just 18.0 points per game, and Washington is going to have trouble getting to that. Don’t forget, the Huskies are going to be playing this game at 9 a.m. Pacific time, so they may be a little groggy, especially at the beginning.
The Huskies’ highest point total this season was 35 that they hung on Weber State in the season opener, but it’s been a battle in Big Ten play, including an 18-point performance in their only road game of the season, a loss at Rutgers.
We’re going to go with our guts when it comes to Iowa and take the under. It’s a natural reaction after all their low scores. Make sure you bet online and include the Washington vs Iowa game in your under wagers.

3. UCF Tries To End Skid vs Visiting Cincinnati
Big 12 play has not been easy for either the Cincinnati Bearcats or the UCF Knights. Both are 1-1 in conference play going into their meeting in Orlando, Fla., scheduled for Saturday. Despite Hurricane Milton hitting the state of Florida this week, the game continues to be planned to kick off as scheduled, though that could change.
With all of the impact the hurricane will have, it’s hard to believe UCF is going to be very focused for this contest. And the playing conditions could be difficult as well. Consider both factors for NCAAF predictions.
The Knights managed just 13 points in a loss to Florida last weekend, and they have been regressing all season long, with their point total dropping every game from a season-opening 57 points to last week’s setback.
The Cincinnati Bearcats has had some better luck, but it hasn’t been consistent on the offensive side of the ball. Quarterback Brendan Sorsby does have some nice numbers (1,481 yards, 12 TDs passing), but he’ll have a tough defense to play against in the Knights.
This game isn’t going to be in the teens, but we don’t see it reaching the total of 59 that was set on the college football odds. Look for a close contest that finishes below that mark in points, and include this game in your unders for the week.
