NCAAF Parlay: Open Bowl Season With 3-Teamer

The huge bowl games are still a couple of weeks away. However, seven bowl games are being played this weekend with all of them featuring single-digit spreads according to the college football betting lines.

Many of these matchups include teams who rarely meet on the gridiron and if that isn’t challenging enough, the number of players from many of these teams entering the transfer portal only adds to the guessing game in the first batch of NCAAF bowl games.

When looking at the best college football parlays, keep in mind that things get started when Georgia Southern and Ohio meet at 11 a.m. ET in the Myrtle Beach Bowl.

The only matchup between Power-5 conference teams is the Independence Bowl with California taking on Texas Tech. It could be argued that a team consisting of players not suiting up for the Independence Bowl could give the Bears and Red Raiders a run for their money. That is also the only game on Saturday featuring a pair of 6-6 teams as 10 of the other 12 teams playing on Saturday have winning records.

When looking at the college football odds, the Mexico Cure Bowl between Miami (Ohio) and Appalachian State has the largest spread among Saturday’s bowl games.

Now it is time to take a look at the best three-game parlay heading into the first day of the bowl season with some NCAAF football picks and parlay options.

Mexico Cure Bowl

Miami (Ohio) RedHawks (+7) vs Appalachian State Mountaineers

  • Game: Saturday, Dec. 16, 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN)

Other than a season-opening loss to the other Miami team, the only blemish on the schedule for Miami was a seven-point loss to Toledo.

When the teams met again in the Mid-American Conference title game, the RedHawks came away with a 23-14 win.

Now Miami is listed as an underdog by our sportsbook and some of that has to do with unproven Henry Hesson set to get the start at quarterback.

Appalachian State has seen some key players enter the transfer portal so it could be worth going with Miami to cover as the underdog.

New Mexico Bowl

New Mexico State Aggies vs Fresno State Bulldogs (Over 51)

  • Game: Saturday, Dec. 16, 5:45 p.m. (ESPN)

The last time New Mexico State took to the field, the result was a wild Conference USA title game won by undefeated Liberty.

The Aggies put up 35 points and still lost by 14 points. There have been at least 50 points scored in seven New Mexico State games. Now the Aggies get to play their bowl game in New Mexico.

Before heading into the Mountain West portion of its schedule, Fresno State put up 39, 34, 29 and 53 points, so the New Mexico Bowl doesn’t have the feel of a 21-17 game.

LA Bowl

UCLA Bruins vs Boise State Broncos (Over 48½)

  • Game: Saturday, Dec. 16, 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC)

Some key defensive players will be sitting out the LA Bowl and that could be good news for the offenses for both teams.

Boise State scored more than 40 points in three of its last four games. There were 45, 66 and 68 points in the last three bowl games when Boise State met up with a team from the Pac-12.

UCLA was held to 10 points or less three times over the last four games. However, in three games against non-conference opponents, the Bruins scored 121 points.

The LA Bowl could feature plenty of offensive fireworks and the 48½-point total has been attracting plenty of action.

Bet This Parlay: Miami (Ohio) +7, New Mexico State-Fresno State Over 51 and UCLA-Boise State Over 48½ +600
