Although the Gamecocks beat a big NCAA Football spread last week, it may be difficult to do it again on Wednesday. New Mexico State has dropped four in a row, but lost against unbeaten Liberty by just six points and scored 40 in a defeat to New Mexico on Sept. 28.

New Mexico State vs Jacksonville State Betting Tips

1. Gamecocks Good Parlay Bet to Reach .500

Jacksonville State struggled to take full control in the first half last week, but left no doubt in the second half with 42 points.

The Gamecocks should continue their scoring spree against a New Mexico State team that is allowing 35 points per contest and surrendered 50 in its last game. Quarterback Tyler Huff ran for three touchdowns last week and is averaging 7.1 yards per carry.

Tre Stewart leads Jacksonville State with eight rushing TDs – four last week – and Huff has thrown for 1,073 yards with five scoring strikes. Huff ran for 101 yards against Louisville on Sept. 7 in a 49-14 defeat..

The Gamecocks gave up 141 points in three losses to open the season, but beat Southern Miss 44-7 on Sept. 21 and allowed seven to Kennesaw in the second half. Jacksonville State is tied for sixth in the nation with eight interceptions, which makes them a safe bet online.

There is no value to betting the Gamecocks on the moneyline (-1500), so consider taking the first points to be scored in the opening five minutes.

Time of First Score Under 5 Minutes (+111)

2. New Mexico State Could Avoid Rout

The Aggies led Liberty 24-15 midway through the fourth quarter earlier this season, but could not hold on for the upset despite being a 23 ½-point underdog on the NCAA lines.

New Mexico State has gone downhill since, especially on defense. The Aggies have given up 43 points per game over the past three and surrendered 579 yards versus New Mexico last time out.

Quarterback Diego Pavia helped New Mexico State to a 10-5 record and a bowl game in 2023, but he transferred to Vanderbilt and was key in beating No. 1 Alabama on Saturday. The Aggies are just not the same team.

But New Mexico State is coming off a bye week and should be well rested to potentially beat a large spread. Seth McGowan (334 rushing yards, two TDs) and Mike Washington (three TDs) could be key. It is also interesting that the Aggies have held teams to 10 field goals.

Take the Aggies +20½ points. Just too many.

Bet on New Mexico State (+20½)

3. Expect a Conference USA Shootout

Neither team has shown much on the defensive side of the ball.

Jacksonville State’s Zechariah Poyser has three interceptions and the Gamecocks have eight sacks, which makes them a solid favorite in the college football odds.

But we can expect both teams to let it all hang out on offense. Much will depend on how well New Mexico State fixed its issues during the off week.

We think, ultimately they can top the over/under total of 57½ points on national television.

Bet on Over 57½
