The 18th-ranked Panthers are 7-0 for the first time since 1982 – when Dan Marino was under center. Pittsburgh finished 9-3 that season and lost to SMU 7-3 in the Cotton Bowl.

The Mustangs joined the ACC in 2024 and the teams will meet for the first time since 2012. No. 20 SMU is also unbeaten in the league, but dropped an 18-15 decision against BYU. The Mustangs snuck by last week with a 28-27 overtime win at Duke.

The Panthers are 6-1 against the spread (ATS) with a balanced offense averaging just over 40 points and an improving defense that held Syracuse down in a 41-13 rout last week. Check late college football news for Pitt quarterback Eli Holstein’s injury status.

Pittsburgh may be due for its first loss on the road in a big game for SMU. However, the Panthers are worth a bet when you get +225 odds for an undefeated team in NCAA football lines.

2 Reasons Why Pittsburgh Is the Best Week 10 Upset Pick

1. Panthers Can Keep Pace on Offense

Pittsburgh has shown the ability to put up big numbers, rally from a double-figure deficit and grind out tight wins (17-15 win against California).

While the Panthers have not faced the kingpins of the ACC yet, they have consistently gotten better on both sides of the ball. They returned two interceptions for touchdowns and took a 17-0 lead in the first quarter against a good Syracuse team.

Holstein has been outstanding with 17 TD strikes and 1,805 yards through the air with 256 and three scores on the ground. Holstein left the Syracuse game early as a “precaution.” Coach Pat Narduzzi said he was fine after the game, but there is some mystery about the injury.

Five different receivers have scored multiple TDs, led by Raphael Williams Jr. (five)  The key in this matchup may be running back Desmond Reid, who has eight total touchdowns and a combined 882 yards rushing and receiving.

Take the points (+7 ½) for your college football parlays, but you can swing for the fences with the Panthers to win (+225) if Holstein plays.

2. Why Bet Against Talented SMU

The SMU Mustangs probably have a better resume than Pittsburgh this season.

SMU has an impressive win at Louisville and it also owns a victory over TCU to go along with the gutty triumph at Duke last Saturday.

The Mustangs struggled as a big favorite (-12) last week, though, and they will be without a big weapon on offense. Tight end RJ Maryland (24 catches, 359, four TDs) was lost for the season due to injury.

Pittsburgh continues to improve on defense with 22 sacks and 10 interceptions. SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings threw three picks last week. If Pitt can contain RB Brashard Smith (745 yards, nine TDs), it can score an upset.

The Mustangs will probably be a good addition for betting online in the final three games. We think they are beatable this week

Arkansas, Vanderbilt Other Capable Underdogs to Bet on Week 10

No doubt, Pittsburgh will not have an easy one on the road.

If you want home dogs instead, there are a few possibilities. Arkansas has been up and down, but owns a great win over No. 7 Tennessee at home. The Razorbacks are currently +210 to beat Ole Miss as a 7-point dog in Fayetteville.

South Carolina (+115) is also a decent bet at home against Texas A&M while Syracuse is +155 to beat Virginia Tech in the Dome and Illinois +129 at home versus Minnesota. Those are good NCAA football odds to take advantage of for parlays.

Bet on Arkansas Razorbacks +7

The other big possibility is Vanderbilt (+200) getting almost a TD at Auburn. The Commodores have a victory over Alabama, won at Kentucky and almost beat Texas last week. Auburn rebounded with a win at Kentucky last week after four straight losses.

Vandy keeps getting underestimated. Take advantage.

Bet on Vanderbilt Commodores +6.5
