NCAAF Week 4 Best Bet Teaser: Texas A&M, Mississippi State Bring Home the Cash
When it comes to teasers, the best choices don’t always come from the Top 25 football rankings. Sometimes, they materialize from games that the oddsmakers might overlook, giving us value on one side or another. Below we have locked on to a pair of contests that will give us the best chance to make a bet without the sweat.
- 1st Teaser Leg: Auburn vs Texas A&M (-7½ to -1½)
The Auburn Tigers come into this one with a 3-0 record, but 1-2 against the spread after defeating lightly regarded FCS entry Samford, 45-13. They failed to cover the 37.5-point impost according to the college football betting lines on that matchup.

The Tigers also beat up another cupcake in their opener when they throttled Massachusetts 59-14 and brought home the bacon for their backers after covering the 35.5-point spread. The only street cred the Tigers have was a road win over a middling California team sandwiched in between the lesser lights. But they failed as five-point favorites, beating the Golden Bears 14-10.
Although Texas A&M does not have the same pristine record as their SEC foes from Auburn, they look like the better team on paper. Like the Tigers, the Aggies smoked their two cupcakes, New Mexico (52-10) in the opener and UL Monroe (47-3) last week while falling to a nationally ranked Miami team in a 48-33 shootout.
The Tigers do not possess the same caliber offense as the Hurricanes. All we have to do is consider the performance of Auburn’s quarterback Payton Thorne in his 9-of-14 passing performance for a total of 94 yards in their 14-10 win over Cal.
No way, no how, will that work against an A&M team that has Conner Weigman pulling the trigger. Weigman passed for 336 yards against Miami and will do the same damage here.
We are getting value on this line (Texas A&M -7.5) in the teaser as we go through four key numbers (7, 6, 4, and 3) to get the Aggies at -1.5 which gives us a College Football pick of the day as the first leg of our teaser.
- College football Pick: Texas A&M Teased to -1½
- 2nd Teaser Leg: Mississippi State (+6 to +12) vs South Carolina
LSU is one of the top college football teams in the country and they showed why when they hammered Mississippi State 41-14 last week. That will make a lasting impression on the bettors as the public has a tendency to grade each team by how they performed the previous week.
Therefore, don’t be surprised if they will be on auto-fade as they take on the upstart Gamecocks in South Carolina this week. The college football odds have jumped on SC from -4 to -6.5.
Just about every sportsbook had the No. 1-ranked Georgia Bulldogs as 26-point home chalk over their SEC foes from South Carolina last week. However, the Gamecocks rose to the occasion and held the vaunted Georgia offense in check, resulting in a 24-14 loss but a moral victory for the visitors.
This is another reason why the Las Vegas college football odds have drifted 2.5 points north because perception is reality in sports betting. However, we should also note two factors are working simultaneously as the Gamecocks will likely still be crowing about their gritty performance against the college football kings from Athens while the Bulldogs will be poised for a taste of redemption after getting waxed by a superior LSU squad.
