NCAAF Week 4 Teaser: Banking on Rankings

Heading to Week 4, plenty of teams have started or will start conference play. That includes the three Top 25 teams we’re profiling for our teaser here. Upsets are a dime-a-dozen in NCAA football, but teasing the college football lines of these teams down should make this three-team teaser golden Saturday.

NCAA Football Week 4: Teasing Conference Giants By 9.5

(9) Clemson Tigers at NC State Wolfpack

When: Sept. 25 (3:30 p.m. ET)

Point Spread: Clemson -10 (-110), NC State +10 (-110)

It has been a disappointing season for the ACC kings, Clemson (2-1). The Tigers have been shut out on the college football spreads (0-3). The Tigers’ tepid offense (22 points per game) was to blame and they managed just 14 against Georgia Tech despite being favored by 27.5 points.

But against the Wolfpack (2-1), Clemson gets to “restart” and beat a team it historically does well against. Teasing Clemson down by 9.5 points makes them a pick’em in the sportsbook and beating NC State shouldn’t be an issue. The Tigers are 9-1 in their last 10 against NC State.

The Wolfpack is averaging 33.3 points but was shut down when they played a high-level team in Mississippi State. Clemson’s struggling offense makes them tough to trust, but their elite defense should be able to neutralize whatever NC State will try.

Tennessee Volunteers at (11) Florida Gators

When: Sept. 25 (7 p.m. ET)

Point Spread: Tennessee +18½ (-110), Florida -18½ (-110)

Florida (2-1) not only covered against mighty Alabama last week, but lost by just two points. It was an impressive win that analysts started questioning ‘Bama as the best team in the nation. Now, Florida gets rewarded by facing a Tennessee (2-1) team in turmoil.

The “Vols” have padded their stats this season thanks to cupcake matchups against Tennessee Tech and Bowling Green. They do have a solid defense, especially against the run (54.3 allowed per game), but Florida’s second-ranked rushing offense (340.3 per game) will test that heavily.

Florida should also be pumped up after its inspiring game against Alabama. The Gators managed to hold its own against ‘Bama’s aerial assault and won the possession battle while running the ball at will. Tennessee does not have the efficiency nor the defense to keep up with Florida. The Gators winning by nine should be a hot ticket when betting online.

Arizona Wildcats at (3) Oregon Ducks

When: Sept. 25 (10:30 p.m. ET)

Point Spread: Arizona +28½ (-110), Oregon -28½ (-110)

The biggest favorite in this teaser is none other than the third-ranked Ducks. Oregon (3-0) gets the Pac-12’s worst team, the Wildcats (0-3) who are just 2-10 against the spread (ATS) versus their conference, and 1-6 ATS in their last seven.

However, 28.5 points is a lot of points even if Oregon should be good for it. They failed to cover against Stony Brook by two points of a humongous 42-point spread but are averaging nearly double the points they allow (38 points versus 19.7).

Teasing Oregon down to 19 points gives them enough leeway as they can win with just three scores. Arizona is still a mess despite the coaching change. This team may have the will to perform, but it has no execution and will get run over by Oregon.

Teaser: Clemson -10, Florida -18½ , and Oregon -28½: 9½-pt Teaser at -140
