Backing favorites isn’t always the most lucrative way to make bets, but if you parlay a few together, it can give you a nice little payout. We’re looking at the best Week 5 favorites for you to combine for a winning college football parlay bet on the moneyline.
After some early setbacks this season, teams are starting to find themselves, especially playing at home. We like a pair of those to come up with wins this week, as well as a visiting squad coming off its first loss of the season
3 Legs to Bet for Week 5 Moneyline Parlay
1. Bet Michigan vs Minnesota
There’s nothing like home cooking, and the defending national champion Michigan Wolverines would know all about that, playing their fifth straight home game to start the 2024 campaign. In all, the Wolverines play just four road games this season, but they’ve needed the time at home to find their new identity after multiple personnel and coaching losses from last year’s championship run.
The Wolverines made college football news with an ugly 31-12 home loss to Texas in Week 2, then struggled a bit in beating Arkansas State.
But coach Sherrone Moore seemed to push the right buttons last week, switching to Alex Orji as his starting quarterback and knocking off previously unbeaten USC at home. The switch to Orji coincided with an even stronger emphasis on the running game, as Orji was just 7-of-12 for 32 yards passing in the 27-24 win over the Trojans.
Running back Kalel Mullings was the star of the game for Michigan, rushing for 159 yards and two touchdowns, including the winning score with just 37 seconds to play in the game.

The Wolverines now face the Minnesota Golden Gophers, who are hitting the road for the first time this season. Minnesota is coming off a loss in its Big Ten opener against Iowa, allowing Hawkeyes running back Kaleb Johnson to rush for 206 yards and three touchdowns. In all, Iowa had 272 yards on the ground and just 62 through the air, using the same kind of attack that Michigan did.
Needless to say, picking the Golden Gophers to get the straight-up win in this one seems a bit foolish. Take the Wolverines on the moneyline as one of your college football picks on our favorites parlay.
2. Nebraska Keeps Purdue Reeling With Road Win
The Nebraska Cornhuskers had an extra day to stew about their first defeat of the season, a Week 4 Friday night loss in overtime to Illinois in which they had the lead in three different times. Now Nebraska gets to take out its frustration on the Purdue Boilermakers, who have already been the whipping boys for a few teams this season.
Notre Dame exorcised the demons of its upset loss to Northern Illinois with a 66-7 rout of Purdue in West Lafayette, Ind., two weeks ago. The Boilermakers then helped Oregon State get over its first loss of the season last week with a 38-21 loss to the Beavers. This week looks to be no different, which is why the college football lines have Nebraska as the road favorite.
The Cornhuskers have an outstanding freshman quarterback in Dylan Raiola, who had three touchdown passes in the loss to the Illini. On the season, Raiola has passed for 967 yards and eight touchdowns.
Coach Matt Rhule is hoping his team has a short memory and can clean things up from last week. Nebraska had nine penalties in the loss, including three personal fouls and a facemask call. The Cornhuskers have 28 penalties in their four games.
“As I told our guys, the narrative has been they’re going to win all these games. Mine has been go 1-0 each week. We have a lot to learn from this,” Rhule said after the loss.
Count on the Cornhuskers going 1-0 this week with an easy win over the Boilermakers, making it one of your college football picks for moneyline favorites on a parlay.

3. Back Notre Dame Over Visiting Louisville
The Louisville Cardinals have gotten off to a nice start to the 2024 campaign, going 3-0 with a combined score of 142-33. But the Cardinals are hitting the road for the first time this season this week to tangle with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, who seem to have bounced back well from an upset loss in Week 2.
Since falling to Northern Illinois at home, the Irish have defeated Purdue and Miami (Ohio) by a combined 94-10 score. Granted, Louisville will be a better level of competition, but we like Notre Dame to step up its play as well, as it did when defeating Texas A&M on the road in the season opener.
Senior quarterback Riley Leonard hasn’t been putting up big passing numbers (587 yards, one TD) in his first season with Notre Dame since transferring from Duke, but he hasn’t had to. The Irish rank 18th in the country in rushing offense, averaging 238.2 yards per game.
Leonard has contributed in that department, rushing for 322 yards and six touchdowns. He’s just behind running back Jeremiyah Love (339 yards and four scores) for the team lead in rushing yards.
Louisville has been solid against the run this season, allowing just 87.3 yards per game to rank 18th in rush defense, but many of its games have been blowouts, with the opponent trying to pass their way back into the game. This will be a good game between a pair of ranked teams, but we like Notre Dame to come away with the home win.
