Trick or treat. Don’t worry if your bankroll is looking scary as we head into college football Week 8. Halloween is around the corner, but looking at the college football odds does not have to be frightening.

You’re not going to know it from the media coverage this week, but there are other games on the slate aside from Georgia vs Texas and Alabama vs Tennessee. We know “it just means more,” but there is football being played outside the SEC.

Here’s an early look at my top college football picks for Week 8.

Bet These 6 College Football Games in Week 8

1. Miami (-4) Cruises ATS vs Louisville

I respect Louisville as a city for giving us the finer things in life, like good bourbon and Kentucky Fried Chicken. That said, I am not buying the Cards as a legit ACC threat.

This line is puzzling me in the NCAAF odds with Miami as just a 4-point favorite. Besides the Hurricanes being the stronger side, there’s a lot to like about Miami in this spot.

Miami is coming off a much-needed bye after surviving back-to-back scares against Cal and Virginia Tech. The Canes benefit from staring at their own mortality in both matchups but not actually losing.

There was likely plenty of motivation for Miami to clean things up during the bye. The TLDR version of all this is the Hurricanes have Cam Ward and Louisville does not.

Bet on Miami FL (-4) Spread vs Louisville

2. Virginia Tech (-7) Enters Sandman to Beat Boston College

Virginia Tech can be one of the more puzzling teams to bet on in the college football lines. That said, there is one thing I know and it’s when “Enter Sandman” plays before a weekday primetime matchup at Lane Stadium.

The Hokies responded from the team’s meltdown versus Miami with a 31-7 victory over Stanford. Virginia Tech is also coming off a bye and is a good bet to cover ATS versus Boston College.

3. Tennessee (+2½) Upsets Struggling Alabama

We could write a whole article about both of these teams’ struggles, but I know you’ve got that Mendendez documentary to satiate on Netflix. Tennessee has serious questions about its offense, but Bama’s issues go beyond one side of the ball.

If the Vols offense can just make some incremental improvements here, the team’s defense should pose a problem to Jalen Milroe and Alabama. Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel does not sound as worried about his offense as we are.

Man, as a football team, you’re just trying to find a way to be plus-one on the scoreboard, and if you can find a way to do a lot more than that, that’s awesome,” Heupel explained, per 247Sports.

At no point since I’ve been here, has it been anything other than all of us together, man. I just – like our defense, their competitive makeup, but also their belief in the other side of football, that they’re going to go make a play, it’s what a team’s about.

Not only do I like Tennessee to cover the +2½ in the NCAAF lines, but let’s take the Volunteers to pull off the upset as a home dog.

4. Florida (-2½) Covers at The Swamp vs Kentucky

Maybe I am getting sucked into Florida after watching my beloved UCF get destroyed at The Swamp a couple of weeks ago. We are slowly seeing some signs of life from the Gators as Florida nearly pulled off a massive upset at Tennessee.

It looks like Florida is going to have to turn to freshman quarterback DJ Lagway for the foreseeable future after Graham Mertz suffered a knee injury in Saturday’s game. Let’s take Florida to cover the spread vs Kentucky in our NCAA football predictions.

5. Cincinnati Wrongly Favored vs Arizona State (+3)

This feels like a “wrong team favored” situation. Vegas has continued to overvalue UCF all season, and it looks like Cincinnati is getting a bump from squeaking out a Week 7 win versus the Knights.

Meanwhile, Arizona State is coming off a massive upset versus Utah. The Sun Devils lean on their rushing attack with Cam Skattebo along with their defense to pull off another Big 12 upset.

Bet on Arizona State (+3) Spread vs Cincinnati

6. Kansas State (-3) Covers Versus West Virginia

Kansas State survived against Colorado, and I still think the Wildcats have a chance to win the Big 12. Meanwhile, West Virginia is looking slightly improved, but unfortunately the schedule is not helping the Mountaineers any.

West Virginia now faces Kansas State and Iowa State in back-to-back weeks. I’m taking Avery Johnson and Kansas State to cover versus West Virginia at the BetUS Sportsbook.
